Is this compatible with the R4?

I'm not sure.  I bought it for the Define R6.  It fits the R6 no problem.  You should contact Fractal support.  Their phone number is on their website.  They'll be able to confirm if it fits the R4.

Question 2

Where do i plug in the cable? I'm not familiar with this type of connector. I have a standard usb 3.0 connector on my motherboard - is there some adapter?

Your motherboard has to have a USB gen 3.2 type c connector port on it for this panel to work, otherwise just stick with the front panel that comes with the R6

Question 3

If I am getting an ASUS PRIME Z390-A motherboard that has the same looking usb header, but is listed as a USB 3.1 gen 1 header... would it at least work as a 3.1 gen 1 port afterwards (5Gb/s)?

Based on the drawings in your Z390-A manual it appears that your mobo has a connector that is the same as the USB Gen 2.2 board connectors.  Based on those drawings I would expect you could take this part and plug it into the USB Gen 2.1 connector beside the Dimm slot and below the 24 pin power connector and get USB Gen 2.1 speeds and performance from the Type C slot in this replacement part.  My Maximus XI Hero has a similar slot and connector in the same place but it connects as a USB Gen 2.2 connector so I get that speed at my panel.  So long as the mobo end of the cable from this part will plug in and it looks like it will you should be golden.

Question 4

The pictures for the white connector shows the power button being black.  But if I look at the white R6 cases that come with USB-C, it shows the power button being white.  Is this an error?  or are we forced to buy the case that comes with USB-C if we want the white power button?

The Connect D1 only includes the plastic facade plate and the USB C connector for the case, the button itself is carried over from the original case you are applying the kit to.

Question 5

Is this connector compatible with the Define XL R2 as well?

It does not appear to be there are differences in how the front panels attach and from around the I/O block.  There are no references regarding compatibility in the documentation that came with it.  The best thing to do would be to contact Fractal support and open a ticket to ask.

I know it says this part is for the Define R6, but does anyone know if it will fit the Define C?

Not 100% sure, but doubtful as cut-outs aren't exactly the same.

No. Unless otherwise stated the D1 is only able to fit the Define R6. You might have to contact Fractal and ask them about the D1 or an alternate if you want to change out that panel

T o those that might know about Fractal Define XL R2,  does the case have a separate hard drive activity light and a power light or do you have to choose between one or the other?  My motherboard has output for the hard drive activity light and a power light.

700 MM ???  I would like one that only measures 160 MM.

Obviously this is a misprint.  I measured mine and the part that fits in the case cutout is 150mm.

How many of these were actually in stock? I've been waiting for months for one of these, and it looks like they sold out almost immediately.

Not certain, but they did have a list of folks that had inquired to them of its availability and sent emails to that list.  I ordered as soon as I got the email.  Nice product.  Note, unlike the pictures I have seen you use all the connections from the old panel.  The only new connector is the  USB-C to the Mobo's USB 3.1 Gen 2 connector (if your mobo is so equipped.)  So you get 3 panels, white, black and grey.  You get the connector to the USB C port and to the mobo.   Simply pick your favored color and install the panel.
