The first 500MB of data per month that you use is free. Above that, you are charged according to how much data you use and the plan you choose.  When you create an account to use your FreedomPop device, IT DEFAULTS TO AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE YOU IF YOU GO OVER THE 500MB MONTHLY LIMIT. There is an option to stop working and not be charged if you hit the limit, but it takes some searching to find it. There is a lot of good information out there if you search on FreedomPop.

The Photon (or other FreedomPop device) is your hot spot. Connect it to your laptap, tablet, etc and if you are in an area with coverage, you are connected to the internet. Coverage map and costs for various plans can be found at the FreedomPop web site.

Will this device work?

Yes, it acts as a typical router would with the exception it receives internet through 4G the same way a mobile phone would. This also means you must be in a covered area. To answer a broader range of questions, anything with wireless internet connectivity will work with this device.

Select WiMax only - not LTE or 3G.  They sell an LTE version, but it is much higher.

Does this router work outside USA for this Wimax internet ( IMW-C910W (2.5GHz WiMAX Mobile Router ) ?

Doubt it. According to FreedomPop website, the service is only available in the lower 48 states and Hawaii.  Their coverage is based on Sprint’s nationwide 3G and 4G LTE. For more, refer to Freedompop website.

Do you have to have a monthly service with this product?

I'm not going to say don't buy it but I'll tell you how my experience went. I got it. Thought okay cool. Used it for about an hour and the time ran out. I went to load more time. I paid 20 bucks. And selected the do not reload balance automatically.  I used it for about 15 more minutes and turned it off. The next thing I know I had $180 worth of charges added on and some were even dated from before I got the device.... just be careful. But no the 500mbs rolls over each month

no, you would have to have a wireless adapter in your computer and connect wirelessly... it would get expensive very quickly on a normal pc browsing.  keep in mind the wimax service will be shutting down permanently in late 2014/2015.  and this has no fallback to the regular sprint network.

yes and no.  it is not designed to work with your home network.  for sometthing like that you need an acess point to connect to your network to extend wifi.  this device could possibly work in your home but it really is designed to be used on the road.  i use it to give internet access to my kids on their nexus 7 tablets, ipad and ipod while in our van.  it is just like a verizon jet pak or turning on the mobile hotspot feature on a smrt phone
