We want to process a stack of original papers. Can this scanner scan a stack of originals and save them into a number of files, 1 page per file, or will all the pages go into one giant file?

I have over 20 of these scanners in production. I can say for certainty that they will scan both as one pdf batch per scan, or a single pdf per page for multiple pdf's. You'll want to use ScandAll Pro for your scanning. Make sure to uninstall the default scanning app that comes with the scanner or it will conflict with ScandAll pro. Also, ScandAll pro isn't installed through the default installer. You need to look through the directories on the cd for the installer. Install ONLY the 32 or 64 bit driver for the scanner, and then install ScandAll pro.

Is this scanner compatible with eClinicalWorks version 9 and 10?

That depends on eClinicalWorks.  If the software supports image acquisition through a TWAIN or ISIS driver (Windows), then yes, this is compatible.  The most likely answer is yes.  Alternatively, you use this scanner with the included software to create a TIF or PDF and acquire the generated file from a share folder.

We have been using the scanner for a couple weeks now and are very happy with it.  It has been able to handle our "field receipts" that are often mangled.  The single-pass, double-side, drop blank side also works very well.  It is also very fast.

Can you title what you scan?

If you save the scanned document as a PDF, then you should be able to add a title it or in fact edit it anyway that you like (with the appropriate version of ADOBE) within the confines of any copyright on the document.

This machine is networkable, right?

Yes, It is networkable.  I work in the medical industry and every other office I go into and even the hospital across the street use these scanners.  We operate in a network environment here also.

Question 8

How is the paper handling?  If you scan 80 pages at once, can you scan them unattended, or will the papers start flying around the room? I have a Fujitsu ScanSnap, which I love, but if you scan more than a few pages at once, you have to sit there and grab the scanned pages after they have fed through because they fly around the room rather than stacking neatly.

Our office uses a Fujitsu fi-7160 for bulk scanning.  According to Fujitsu, the ADF officially has a max. capacity of 50 sheets.  In truth, you can actually fit more, up to about 60 or 70 sheets at once.  We have the top of our ADF feeder butted up against a desk to support it and help hold it upright. The bottom tray is able to hold all of the documents post-scanning, so nothing falls on the floor.  The feeder has adjustable slider bars, so you can scan stacks of any size of document, including paystubs, timecards, etc.  The software allows mixed-size documents in a single batch (i.e., it won't suddenly halt the scanning job because it detected a "non-standard"-sized paper.)  Overall, it's well worth the money and a daily lifesaver at our firm!

DOES THIS INCLUDE SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE?

In the box is scanner, power cord & USB cable. Also a user manual. The software that comes with scanner is Fijuitsu ScanSnap software. I use Acrobat to do all my scanning and not the native software.
