Does this product come with Adobe Acrobat?

Yes,  the scanner comes with Adobe Acrobat XI Standard version compatible with both Windows and Mac.  This scanner is excellent for both home and office.  Hope this helps.

Question 2

Does the ScanSnap iX500 copy and print as well as scan? When we first looking at it we thought we read that it did, but now we can not find that it does

Accepted Answer

The scansnap essentially copies, as the output from the system can be sent directly to a printer.

There will be a default location you want the scanned data to be sent to.  I have my system set up to drop all scanned docs as searchable pdfs and they all drop in the same folder.  Then I change names and drag/drop these files to the client folders, which is how I like to save my data.

But right clicking (win 7) in the right bottom task bar on the icon, will allow you to select scan to print. (among other options like card minder, searchable pdf, scan to print, scan to folder, scan to Evernote, scan to googledocs.)

So the answer is yes.  Not quite as easy as a button on a printer that you push and it scans, but  pretty close.

It is very fast compared to my older Xerox single sided scanner.  It does both sides at the same time, orients 98% of my docs right side up, deletes blank sheets, etc.

The only downside I have is if I want to scan a book, I need to use my old Xerox, which can be sheet fed or flatbed.  Since books wont work in a sheet fed scanner,  I am keeping my old Xerox for occasional use.

I paid about $500 vie newegg I think in the last couple of months.

Are there any issues with the ADF such as jamming?

I scanned and disposed of 8 years worth documents the first evening after I received this, and had no jamming issues at all. I've had this scanner for about a year now and can't think of one bad thing to say about it. I am extremely comfortable recommending this scanner to you or anyone else looking for an effective and simple paperless solution. You will LOVE it.

Can I scan to a network drive or can I only scan to a drive on the computer it is attached to?

Effectively, you can only scan to what your computer has access to. So if that happens to be a network drive your computer has access to, then you can. I don't think you can directly scan to a network drive.

Is this a color scanner or just B&W?

Color, high resolution, PDF and TIFF as well as B&W.   Scans photos nicely.    It is a robust and solid scanner and the biggest drawback of this scanner is that they did not create a TWAIN driver, otherwise, I would buy more of them.  But, if they did create a TWAIN driver, I am sure it would destroy their higher end scanner market....  shame that business trumps technology

If my computer has usb 2.0 is there a card to update it to 3.0?

I love this scanner.  It handles different size and weight originals, wrinkled and with staple holes very well.  Did not work on my usb 3.0 port and then I noticed a slip of paper in the installation documentation that said this scanner does not work on all usb 3.0 ports.  I have it connected to a usb 2.0 port on the same computer and I can't imagine I would notice any faster performance because it seems fast enough.

Would this be able to export information to PDF, Excel®, Quicken®, QuickBooks®, TurboTax® or other programs like these?

You can scan directly to PDF or TIFF. You can NOT scan directly to the others to the best of my knowledge. I can tell you that of the 12 scanners that I have owned in the past 20 years, this has been by far THE best scanner I have ever owned. Even with scanners being 3 times more expensive. It is fast, dependable and the software is absolutely SUPERB and they keep updating it. Every month or so - there is an update and it keeps getting better. I can scan to my marvelous Android Galaxy S4 phone if I want and make it go right onto my 64 Gig SD Card.

My computer has USB 2.0 ports, but not USB 3.0.  Can I use the iX500 with it?

I plugged mine into the USB 2.0 port and it works fine, very fast scanner in duplex.

Does this product come with a version of Adobe software?

I've bought several of these scanners for work, and I'm a big fan.  Users really like them, too.

Each one I've bought has come with a copy of Adobe Acrobat.  The last one I bought came with Acrobat XI Standard, but that's been several months ago -- not sure what version ships with a new scanner.
