Can this be used with another brand? I currently have the same speed Hyper X memory 6GB but want to add another 6GB unfortunately Hyper X version isn't available.

Afaik there should be no problem mixing these brands. As long as you are aware it's triple channel, and that works with your board, you should be good to go. Check latency numbers are also similar (besides speed).

I mixed some generic OEM memories 3x1GB with these G.Skill 3x2GB, and has worked like a charm for a few years now.

It says specially designed for the i7 but will it work with AMD?

yes it will work but keep in mind AMD chipsets do not offer triple channel architecture, so getting three sticks may not make the most sense. You could use 2 sticks in one system for dual channel mode operation and one stick in another system. I would just get a dual stick kit for an AMD system.
