Itās important to note here that AMD never said they would stop providing driver support on RDNA1 or RDNA2. The wording of āmaintenance modeā was what threw off a lot of users, and as expected, tech YouTubers jumped at the opportunity to make headlines about doomsday coming for Radeon RX5000 and RX6000 cards.
For anyone who cared to read AMDās notes when they originally announced this change, they would have known the entire time that the drivers were still going to receive updates for bug- and glitch-fix issues, new game support, and security-related updates. AMD simply said the drivers for RX5000 and RX6000 would not be receiving performance-related updates as, with these cards being 4+ years old, AMD correctly asserted they have milked all the performance they can out of these cards. They never said they would stop updating the drivers for game support.
This shouldnāt be a surprise to anyone who reads.
