Looks like a fun toy to try out and play! Might ask it for Christmas…
they’re not hard to learn to fly, especially many of the new models now have collision sensors. Depending on the weight of the drone, you will have to get a license to legally fly outside. Not sure how hard the test is now it was easy when I did it years ago. I would suggest buying one of those really cheap mini drones that you can find online. Kind of get a feeling for it before you go out and spend on a decent model. also, they are a lot easier to fly with the controller than with the phone. I got an old DJI spark I haven’t flown in a few years now, but it was fun.
how long did it take to study up for the test?
5 min. I’m not sure it is the same now or not. The first year it was out was like the wild west. It was just an online ten question test unless you were going to use it for any kind of commercial use which included surveyors, wedding photographers etc., etc. was just basic questions. Don’t fly over people don’t fly over radio towers or restricted areas, blah blah blah. You have to look into it. A lot of the new drone, though are underneath the weight requirement for that though. The problem with these drones now, though as if it’s too windy, they’ll get blown around a lot.
There is a program that I use that’s for fpv drone sim and racing that’s really fun and good for practice. It’s called velocidrone you have to pay a little bit but all I have to say is it’s worth it.
