Upgrading my pc I have a AMD ryzen 9 7900x cpu and need a budget GPU that isn’t going to bottleneck but also hopefully run fairly decent graphics I play Fortnite and some other similar games nothing super intense but I also want to be able to have the option if there is a game I do wanna play
What’s your budget limit for the GPU?
I’m just shooting in dark but 9060xt 300 ish bucks would be great for gaming and staying low.
Keep an eye on the used market. I just sold a good 6800xt in the $300 range.
That’s a tough one because I’m not wanting to go to low I have to upgrade sooner rather then later but definitely wanting to drop 5090 money lol
I’ve been looking into the used market but I just get nervous not knowing how they have been treated or if when I receive it it’s even gonna work and then I’m just out that money
You said budget lol, 5090 is normally not a budget card. I’m confused with out a dollar amount you want to spend on GPU.
Well if you do id say stick with a site like Jawa or even looks like Newegg sells used. At least you have A little more assurance there. I definitely stay away from Ebay or Mercari or anything like that. You will pay more though.
Realistically though you’re looking at least $500 or more. When I sold mine, I was not looking to make a ton of cash on it. Beyond that you’re probably gonna have to save or finance it. I personally wouldn’t buy an nividia 3000 series or even a AMD 6000 unless you can get one at a real fair price. You probably Only get another year or so out of it before upgrading again. Most people want stupid money still.
I meant to say I’m NOT wanting to drop 5090 money lol I mean I know the GPU market now days is insane but I’m also not wanting to have to buy again in a year or two
So if you had to suggest one what would you say that would last me for at least a few years
Here are some open box and refurbished cards that id probably go 5070, if any of these but they are all good cards. I recently snag a 6950xt refurbished. Honestly, if refurbished is an option i always but it over new lol. im cheap
My choices 5070 ,3080 ti, 4070, then 7800xt
Amd 7000 series or nvidia 4000 series. I would try to get the most v- ram you can. Stay away from 8 gig cards! 12 is ok but 16 is where you really want to be for now. Crazy part is SabbyDaNinja is showing some good options, but for a couple hundred more you can get a 9070xt if your patient ( got my steel legend for $699 on new egg) or a 5070 ti. They really have got gamers screwed. They sell us on “well for a little bit more you can have the newest”. I only upgraded from my 6800xt 16gig card because i played Indiana Jones on it. You MUST have raytracing capabilities with that game. That card could just keep up and I was getting popins from distant objects. It ran hot and the game was using like 14-15 gigs at all times. I can see where games are going so…….. . Im still worried in a year or so we’ll see games that need 20 gigs of vram. I usually get a 80 class card but pulled the trigger.
Facts from Viraco, and if u can wait definitely 9070xt or 5070ti brand new cards should have no issues for 3 to5yrs well fingers crossed lol. Like Viracos said games getting wild out here with vram. Viracos is right id stay away from 8gb no matter what. 12gbss fine if u get a deal, but 16 def gives more future proof.
You never stated what your current card is either.
Here’s my point, there’s a 6800 non xt for $360 right now on Jawa. It’s an OK card, but I’m gonna tell you within a year probably gonna be next to useless. Except maybe Minecraft and Fortnite. If you want to get anything else, it’s not gonna work. So if you’re able to play them right now with your current card, why waste of money? Just save the money and buy a new one on new egg. Use that one for two generations then upgrade and sell your old one for 50% of its initial cost while it still has value. Rinse and repeat.
Honestly the RX 7600XT RX 6700XT are great options if you arent trying to break the bank and don’t mind exploring second hand options.
