Didn’t see any of these mobos had spacing between pcie slots big enough to support dual 50 series - i.e. 5080 and 5090.
Not sure what to do. Newegg told me to ask Pre Sales for Asus, Asrock, etc, but most pre-sales are for non US residents or they want you to own one of their Products Already. I.e.
Like can I buy a PCIe riser and GPU mount to use in non-standard positions in the Phanteks Enthoo pro v2 server edition? I do not want to mount vertically, only horizontally.
saw this has a riser cable routed to the front - does the riser cable have enough slack, so you can fit it over the main 5090 and mount the other 5090 to the front?
And then just cut out a slot in the back for the main 5090?
I don’t think this is a popular option anymore. That’s why you don’t see a lot of support for this anymore. I’d 100% check w/ the motherboard manufacturer technical support as well and see youtube videos for examples that have been done already
if I did want to go non water cooled dual gpu, is there a riser cable that would work with the phanteks enthoo v2 server edition case to keep the gpus separated?
LSFG recommends using an amd GPU becasue of higher fp16 which is great for frame gen, you can pick one that takes up fewer than 3.5 slots. Some GPU you may not able to find any specifications related to GPU’s slot, an roughly calcualtion to estimate its slots width can be done: "GPU’s height / 19 " (since one slot is typically around 19mm wide).
Next, find a mobo that has a PCIe x16 slot in slot 2, second PCIEX16 at slot 5 or 6. From what I know the amd mobo supports dual 4-slot GPUs are X870E hero and MSI godlike— both of which offer two PCIe 5.0 x8 slots in slot 2 and slot 6. Don’t go with the mobo that got their PCIEx16 at slots 3 like X870E Extreme, you typically wont able to have enough of space to place the second GPU because it wont fit by most pc case.
You’ll also need a large pc case, as someone mentioned above. Enthoo Pro Server Edition is a great option, though it appears to be out of stock recently.
Thank you. Actually idk about going dual brand of cards in 1 case. I’ve heard of driver conflicts. I kinda need Nvidia Broadcast, also WoW struggles with AMD drivers. Heh.
I think 5060 2 fan is fine for LSFG, as long as 5090 is my main card.
It is quite a challenge finding such a motherboard that will utilize full performance of both graphics cards. Just out of pure curiosity and if you dont mind sharing, is this just for gaming? finding a board that can physically and electrically handle two monster GPUs like a 5080 and 5090 without choking due to M.2 lane-sharing or slot spacing? I would also consider the possibility that these cards wont play nicely with eachother, especially if they are not exact matches.
