First time PC setup

I’m looking into getting a PC for the first time but don’t know where to start. I’d like to build one that works for gaming and as a functional desktop. I play games like Skyrim, Fortnite, lots of fps shooters and more. Really just looking to broaden my horizons, coming from console only my whole life. I have an ok wireless mouse that I use for my laptop and a decent headset already. My budget is roughly $1100, if anyone’s got some pointers that’d be great!

It’s a pretty rough time to be buying a gaming PC, especially around the $1,100 price point. You’re going to have to make some compromises.

Personally, I’d prioritize getting a graphics card with 16GB of VRAM, even if that means settling for 16GB of system RAM for now. RAM is much easier and upgrade later than replacing a graphics card.

I’d also recommend going with an AMD AM5 platform rather than an older AM4 system. It’ll give you a much better upgrade path and should last you longer.

Nvidia-based systems in this price range generally come with 8GB graphics cards, which I’d try to avoid if you’re looking for something that’ll last.

Here’s a Thermaltake system worth considering with a Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, 16GB DDR5, and a 1TB SSD. It’s $1,299, so about $200 over your budget, but I think it’s a pretty decent starting point and worth considering for the extra money.l, Or something similar.
