Graphics Card for my Boyfriend

What graphics card should I get for my boyfriend? He keeps complaining about his games not running well when he plays Marvel Rivals. I think he has an Nvidia card?

Recommended gpu for Rivals is a “RTX 2060 Super”, the market rn for gpus are all over the place, some will have them for $250, others $700. If you can find an RTX 3060 for a good price then you’re golden

Can’t go wrong with a RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 Ti

You can get an rtx 4060 for $329 on new egg it will be the best card at that price and its the newest generation so he wont need to worry about upgrading for a few years because he can run games with dlss 4 and get higher fps

Whats the budget you were thinking first? And what does he have in his currently?

I’m of the belief that the GPU is pretty much the center of the computer. So go for what you are budgeted for. But to future proof think two upgrades ahead and if you can always go with a 70’s version like 3070 and if possible 4070 as this will give you the longer use before you will need to upgrade.

I don’t know what budget it should be. :sob: :sob:
Hopefully less than $450…? It looks like the “RTX 2060 Super” is a graphics card or an “RTX 3060”? I’ll take a look, it’s almost his birthday soon. Thanks everyone

Its also worth considering what CPU he has. The 2060 super and the 3060 aren’t “bad” GPUs unless hes maxing out his settings. Performance can definitely be hindered by the CPU or even your RAM. There are always other factors that affect performance but those are the big 3.

A good option is to buy an rtx 3070 used on ebay, usually ~$280. Just make sure the power supply is also strong enough for the pc and new gpu

i have RTX 4060 Ti and my boyfriend have RTX 4060 - we rank everynight and it runs smoothly but i guess 40 series are on the higher end; one of the streamers i watch also recommends RTX 3080 - that should land more within your budget

your bf can try installing other NVIDIA drivers too to help optimize in-game settings, i recently swapped to NVIDIA studio Driver (instead of gaming driver) and that helped with shader rendering - Marvel Rivals is a shader heavy-game because how many special effects/assets/environment effects are happening during the game, a driver that is more appropriate for shader rendering might be helpful too

Newegg has the rtx3060 12gb for around $350. That would be a decent card for a long while.

Ypu can always try the amd equivalent, of an nvida for budget restraints.
Without getting further into the computer, upgrading the graphics card, would be a main option.
The real issue, is the over inflated prices atm.
If you can get a little more information, we should be able to help.
