Rare to find a game for $50 these days unless it’s on sale
it’s only been my experience, but games over 40 hours start getting very repetitive and boring. Unless it’s a competitive Multiplayer game.
I’m with you on that! Also, finding a new game for $50 would be a deal nowadays!
yeah, for me the only games that can break the 40 hour rule. Are these AAA open world, well written bangers that come out every two or three years. Like Red Dead 2, Fallout3, GTA, Baulders Gate3. there’s just so much to do and see and hidden things to find. Then of course there’s the big daddy of them all, Skyrim. But that thing has been molded, twisted and modded so much It’s not even the same game anymore. I think I got 1500 on it or more.
Debated since the dawn of RPG & action platformers - I potted it at 40-60 because of all of the time that must be spent downloading and installing DLC, fixes and updates. Before I have to go grabbing expansion packs and buying skins - throw in another 10 hrs. of solid game…not back tracking the same terrain for another McGuffin that doesn’t change the storyline or outcome. Fighting games fair better in this as you can drain the main storyline for all characters against the AI…but hopefully it’s a while before the challenge pool dries up. Remember when buying a game meant you got the whole game?..days gone bye. LOL!
Call me old fashioned but if I am spending more than 20 dollars on a game I expect a good amount of time before I complete it. There are great games like that one about the first schedule that offer gameplay that although simple can yield plenty of hours with friends haha.
Good Question:
Any game over $35 should be of a nature where there is endless replay value. At $50 I expect the following:
~ The ability to have multiple sessions (in whatever way the Devs want to set it up), so I can replay the entire game from scratch (looking for things I may have missed) without losing a previous playthrough.
~ Continuity - if I’m supposed to be the same character in the next chapter/part of the series, why am I starting from scratch every time unlocking previously gained abilities, skins, decals, dances — you get the point.
One thing that changed with DLC is the ability to sell your game. In the PC days, when I sold a console or PC, I would often sell or offer the games that I purchased during its use. That is practically impossible as many AA and AAA games are tied to your account and are not standalone or is non-transferable. This is how we got to the IN-APP purchases model, so many games can be offered for free to get their name out there and ramp-up difficulty later to encourage Pay-to-Play, Pay-to-Stay, and Pay-to-Win
Here’s an AI answer on the matter:
The only $50 game that I have if farming simulator 25, and it’s AMAZING (if you have the pc for it
) (which I don’t)
