Hello, im new here and ive been looking for a good/above decent cpu that goes well with my radeon 7600 gpu. My current cpu is a ryzen 5 5500. What do you guys recommend?

What motherboard are you using? That matters a little here because your Ryzen 5 5500 is limited to PCIe 3.0, and the RX 7600 is a PCIe 4.0 x8 card. If you’re on a B550/X570 board, moving to something like a Ryzen 5 5600, 5700X, 5800X, or 5700X3D could give you PCIe 4.0 support along with the CPU upgrade. But if your motherboard is B450 or older, the GPU slot is likely still PCIe 3.0 anyway, so the upgrade would mostly be about CPU performance, not fixing the PCIe limit. What resolution and refresh rate are you playing at too? That’ll help decide whether a bigger CPU upgrade is actually worth it with an RX 7600.

Hey, yeah i think my motherboard is a b550. Not sure yet on what would be my prefer budget.
Assuming your board is B550, the budget-friendly pick here would be the Ryzen 7 5700X. It gives you 8 cores/16 threads, better Zen 3 performance, more cache, and PCIe 4.0 support compared to your Ryzen 5 5500, while also being easier to cool at 65W.
I’d personally stay away from the regular 5800X at that price. It is faster than the 5700X on paper, but not by enough to really justify the extra heat and power for gaming. It kind of sits in the middle where it costs more than the 5700X but still does not give you the big gaming uplift of the X3D chips.
If you want to max out the system, the 5800X3D is the fastest AM4 gaming chip. It is not the most cost-effective choice, especially with an RX 7600, but it is the best final gaming CPU upgrade for that platform. Any of these would be better than the 5500 because they have stronger cores, more cache, 8 cores instead of 6, and they would let your GPU run PCIe 4.0 on a B550 board.
If yo do go with the 5800 x3d you may have to upgrade your cooler depending on what you already have. You will be jumping from a 55w CPU to a 105W CPU. you most likely will have to update your motherboard’s drivers too.
