How do you land the Iai counter? It feels impossible to land.

Use Special Sheathe (R2 + X) right after a combo, then hit R2 at the very last frame of a monster’s wind-up to parry and counter with Iai Spirit Slash. Key tips:

  • Enter Special Sheathe immediately after any attack.
  • Watch the full draw-back of their swing.
  • Press R2 just before contact.
  • Practice on slow, predictable moves (e.g., Great Jagras).

Nail the timing, and you’ll negate hits, build Spirit Gauge, and flow into a follow-up slash—repeat to master it!
