Final Fantasy XIV’s director and producer Naoki “Yoshi‑P” Yoshida acknowledged during a recent Live Letter livestream that the “quality of service has declined recently”, citing an uptick in unexpected bugs and emergency hotfixes as a clear sign the team drifted into complacency. They are also aware of Final Fantasy on the slight decline.
Out of the woodwork came Chrono Odyssey. Chrono Odyssey recently ran its first public closed beta test, exclusively on PC via Steam. This three-day playtest offered players access to an early segment of the game, including storyline quests, three playable classes (Swordsman, Ranger, Berserker), and the time-manipulation combat loop featuring rewind and freeze mechanics, all set in its Unreal Engine 5 powered open world. The beta attracted over 65,000 concurrent players, reflecting strong interest, yet community feedback was mixed: while some praised the heavy-hitting boss fights and innovative combat feel, many cited janky animations, underwhelming lighting effects, and performance inconsistencies like frame drops and washed-out visuals.
