News: Gaming survey conducted shows a nearly EVEN split from guys to gals. Average age has increased as well.

The recently released survey by the Entertainment Software Association challenges many longstanding assumptions about who plays video games. Rather than being dominated by teens or young adults, the “typical” gamer today is 41 years old. Additionally, the gender balance among gamers is nearly equal, with men making up 51 percent and women 48 percent of respondents. This shift underscores how gaming has expanded far beyond its earlier niche reputation, reaching into middle age and breaking down traditional gender stereotypes.

Beyond demographics, the survey delves into why people play games. The most common reason cited is simple: to have fun (66 percent). But other motivations go deeper 58 percent play as a way to relieve stress and relax, and 45 percent see gaming as an exercise for the mind. In other words, many players view games not just as entertainment but as tools for mental wellness and stimulation.
