This year’s been a crazy year of game releases with many more to come in the future. Let’s take a look at what Metacritic has to say so far about the best games of 2025. The Legend of Zelda for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom top the chart taking the first 2 spots for their remastered Switch 2 edition. In a surprise to no one, the next game is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The Blue Prince may be a game not many have heard of, but is an absolute masterpiece in puzzle games.

Split Fiction is agreed by all as the most fun co-op game. When their previous game released, It Takes 2, the director bet $1000 to anyone who didn’t have fun. Donkey Kong Bananza goes in 6th with a great release utilizing all of the Switch 2’s capabilities. Despelote is slice of life game about childhood and soccer. Death Stranding 2 is another incredible game by Hideo Kojima featuring great motion capture animation. The Talos Principle is a remaster of the original puzzle game. We finish off the list with Monster Hunter: Wilds, the best launch in the series but bridled with performance issues.
