One of the best collaborations in gaming history is Fortnite’s crossover events. Epic Games has managed to turn its battle royale into a cultural hub by partnering with franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, Dragon Ball, and even concerts with artists like Travis Scott and Ariana Grande. These events didn’t just add cosmetic skins. FF XIV x NieR Automata raid is a standout collab with Kingdom Hearts series spanning an entire game series from collaborations alone. Super Smash and Sonic Racing also thrive off collaborations.

While Nier Automata has some amazing collaborations, they did not do well with Rainbow Six Siege. This contrasted at a time when Nier Automata x Stellar Blade and the two were heavily contrasted against each other. Another collaboration was Final Fantasy XV with the Assassin’s Creed Festival with fans calling it “out of place.” The most recent collaboration that has fans in discussions is the Among Us x Genshin Impact with PC Gamer’s tagline, “This emergency food is a little sus.” It’s definitely a wild and unexpected collaboration, but not a bad one.
