News: Spectre Divide had its player base divided. Studios closed within 6 months.

Spectre Divide launched with high hopes, aiming to stand alongside big-name tactical shooters like Valorant and CS2, but despite early excitement, it struggled to maintain momentum and ultimately couldn’t survive past its release window. The game’s open beta showed promise, gaining positive attention from both players and critics. The involvement of streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek gave the project additional visibility and raised expectations even further, creating a sense that Mountaintop Studios might be on the verge of something special.

Unfortunately, things quickly went wrong at launch. The servers couldn’t handle the player demand, leaving many frustrated right out of the gate. On top of that, the studio introduced a $90 skin bundle that drew backlash. Behind the scenes, the studio was also dealing with major constraints. They had to choose between delaying until 2025 for more polish or releasing before the holiday season. There was a world where it all could have aligned, but it was not this one sadly.
