I’ve seen a lot of people lately struggling with random crashes, especially on 13th and 14th-gen Intel CPUs like the i7-13700K and 14700K often during hot weather or heavy loads. Since I’ve been through this myself, I wanted to share a quick guide on undervolting your CPU to help reduce temps and improve stability. Hope it helps someone out there stay cool (and crash-free).
Especially applies to i7-i9-1400K / i7-i9 1400K
BIOS METHOD (advanced users):
Reboot → Enter BIOS (Del/F2)
Find: CPU Core Voltage settings
Set: Offset Mode → Negative
Start with: -0.050V to -0.100V
Save & reboot
Intel XTU METHOD (easier):
Download: Intel Extreme Tuning Utility
Open → Advanced Tuning → Core Voltage Offset
Try: -0.050V
Apply & stress test
Pro Tips:
Don’t use “Override Mode” — kills turbo
Keep BIOS updated
If it crashes: reset BIOS or uninstall XTU in Safe Mode
Works best with decent cooling
Raptor Lake chips run HOT, esp. during heatwaves
