How do I activate or open the DVD/CD player?

The physical eject button is on the right side of the tower, near the front corner.  It's the top button.  It has a triangle pointed up.  Push it and wait a few seconds.  The drive should open.  It's a poor design in my opinion.  
There is also a software solution that you can use, if the button is broken.  Go to the traditional desktop view.  Right click any empty space on the desktop and choose personalize.  When the personalize screen opens, select change icons and add the My Computer to your desktop.  Once that is added to your desktop, open it and right click on the DVD drive icon, hold and drag it to your desktop, selecting create a shortcut on the dropdown menu.
Now you are ready to use your new DVD shortcut that you will leave on the desktop.  Whenever you want to open the DVD drive, right click on that new desktop shortcut and select eject.  The DVD drive tray will open.  Lightly push it to close.

does the power supply have extra sata connecters so that I can hook up more than one hdd or ssd?

I added an ssd drive for the OS.  There are two extra sata power connectors coming off the power supply.  You'll have to add your own data cable of course.

is this computer internet ready or do i have to purchase an internal internet conector?

if you look at the rear view of the computer, you can see an ethernet port that allows connection via cat 5e or better cable to your router/modem.

What is the memory speed of this unit?  It says it has 6GB DDR3 but is it 1600 speed or 1333, etc?

Don't Know and what is more it is unimportant, either way. You should only concern yourselve if you are running a PC on the bleeding edge!
For the price this PC cannot be beat, I could not put one toguether with the same specs at the same price.

Is this model a quad core?

yes it is at 2 GHz per core and its not overclockable its a apu processer meaning it has graphics built into it isn't that great for gaming. and it has one PCI slot and one PCI express x16 slot but if you buy a larger graphics card like I did you'll have to unplug your USB 3.0 cable for the front two USB. if your using the computer for the web and homework its good anything else don't buy it.

can I play computer games on this?

Older or less intense games, sure.  The CPU performance is roughly equivalent to an A8-550M, or an i7-620LM.  The graphics performance is roughly equivalent to a Radeon HD 6450, or a GT 420M.  I've only played browser based flash games so far, and they all run smoothly with zero stuttering.

Can you add a second Hard-drive to this PC?

No and yes,  I was surprised when I opened mine to see that it only has TWO sata connectors on the motherboard.  You can add more with a PCI express card, but you will only have a PCI express x16 and one PCI express x1 slot.  That's very limited if you want a graphics card and wifi card there will be no room for the sata expansion card.

Alternatively you can disconnect the DVD burner and use that SATA for a second HDD.  But that means you cant use the DVD burner.  It was a real bummer for me.

What exactly are the two PCI ports on the mother board of this computer?

These are for expansion cards. For example, you could add an eSATA card for high speed external hard drives.

Question 9

The audio has never worked on this PC since I purchased it on 3/12/14. 
When I trouble shoot, a message comes up that my speakers are not plugged in, but they are plugged in and worked fine on my old machine. Has anyone had this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Fortunately, yes my speakers work.  Have you checked the Windows Media Player and it's settings?   Do you have drivers loaded?

Is there another slot for an additional hard drive?

Yes there is space in the case, but there is not an extra sata connection on the motherboard. There are only two sata connections on the motherboard and one is being used by the CD rom.  You would have to get a sata adapter card to add an additional hard drive.
