Is this computer noisy or quiet when gaming and regular use like movies?

This computer is very quiet. When I sit at my desk, I can't even hear the computer running. I don't play a lot of games on it, but I think you will be pleased with how quiet it is. I love mine.

When you first received this computer, was it in good shape or did you have problems?

The computer worked great from the start. No issues. I did find that the on board video graphics couldn't handle battlefield 4 so I had to add a capable card. I then had to upgrade the power supply to meet the graphics card specs. Something to consider if you plan on gaming.

Yes it has HDMI out puts but doesn't come with an hdmi cable.

It comes with one power cable, that's all you need.

does it cost to upgrade to windows 8.1?

No, the upgrade to windows 8.1 is completely free if you already have windows 8. To get the upgrade just head to the store in the modern U.I.

Can it be upgraded to a two gig HDD?

I personally haven't opened up the hood, but a number of people have discussed HDD upgrades on the forums. I know quite a few people have had space issues when upgrading video cards, but none in regards to larger HDD ( Assuming you meant TB not GB ).

How does it run minecraft? (ftb, recording)

The system is fairly fast. I purchased because of warranty I could get and it comes with 10 gig of memory. As for running Minecraft I don't know the requirements for the game. It uses system memory for video that may slow it down. There are options for a PCI-E x16 video card that can have memory of it's own.

Does this desktop come with a downgrade option (to Win7) or will I have to purchase Win 7 separately? This will be a business computer and no touch screen and I hate Win8... sorry....

No - it comes pre-loaded with Win8 and there's no option within the computer for "downgrading" the platform.  You would have to purchase Win7 and install - but I wouldn't recommend that!  I do have to say that I jumped on Win8 nearly as soon as it was available more than a year ago and found it to a great OS - and haven't changed my opinion.   My wife was very reticent to make that leap (this computer is hers) but has had no complaints about 8 (now, 8.1).  Aside from the metro interface, it really is very similar to Win7. I purchased this computer for my business and it is working find and fills all of my need.  Windows 8.1 is a bet difficult to get used to but I am working through all of the changes.

The performance of this machine is great.

Does this come with the recovery operation cd?

No, mine did not. There is a recovery partition on the hard drive which the Gateway software included will use to create a windows boot (recovery) disk on DVD or a USB or SD drive. It needs a 16GB drive, which I had already. Because USB and SD have more space, I prefer them to DVD. CDs are too small to hold the files for recovering Windows 8.
