I own a gateway DX4860-UR308 Desktop and I want to know if I can add ram memory. It currently has 6gb of Ram. Is it possible to add and if so, how much will the additional memory cost me? Please elaborate since I am not very knowledgeable about computers.

I bought this computer last year. According to the specifications for it there are 4 memory slots. It comes with one 4GB and one 2GB card for a total of 6GB memory. It is rated for up to 16GB of memory. So, you can put memory in each slot up to 4GB each for a total of 16GB. You can buy memory most places these days and they generally slide or clip into place. Computer should be shut down and unplugged. When you turn it back on and it reboots it should see the new memory and show up in the system information. Check in the help section of the computer to verify installation procedures to be sure or check out Gateways help on line forum. You do want to get the correct type of memory which if you check should be DDR3 on this system. I hope this helps you.
