Does this computer come with the windows 8.1 media/disk?

No - nothing comes with install media anymore. You can create a recovery disk for drivers, and the rest of it can be re-installed from a recovery partition. Of course, if the entire drive fails then you are completely out of luck.

Please let me know if the following is compatible.  Can i swap out the power supply with my Corsair CX600M power supply?  Also have an ASUS Radeon7790 video card?

No. The motherboard in this unit has a proprietary connection to the power supply. I have been unable to find an adapter that would allow me to change that. It also has no free connections, so it is unable to power any graphics card. I purchased this for my kids as a school pc, they are able to play most of their steam games through the Intel on-board graphics, but for this purchase that was not in my priority list for functionality.

No, but other than that it is a great desktop computer/HDMI for connection to a TV set. Having NetFlex it is a good feature to watch Movies and Shows.

64 bit. As a note, don't get this system if you want to game or want to upgrade the video card because the power supply is proprietary and cannot be changed.

I have purchased 2 Gateway DX4885-UR1C computers, but haven't changed the power supply or added a video card to them.
I am confident this computer could be upgraded with the items you are considering.

Can I upgrade the power supply/GPU and use this as a gaming computer?

The power supply is NOT a standard ATX power supply.  Acer uses a proprietary standard for the Gateway PCs, with a 12 pin connector to the motherboard.  You would need a specialized power supply like the  FSP500-50AAGA.

Question 8

Doe the computer come with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint?  Will my monitor work with this computer?  It's hooked to a Dell now?

It does not come equipped with Wi-Fi but a separate USB Wi-Fi stick can be purchased (my current set up).

Question 10

a reviewer states that the motherboard power connector is not standard.  Can someone confirm this?   I have the previous model (I5-3xxx series CPU) and the motherboard was had the standard 24 and 4 pin power connectors.  It seems unlikely to me that Gateway would go off-spec on the motherboard.

thanks for the answers.   it seems another reviewer confirmed that the power connector is not ATX standard, so I eventually went with an HP.

I'm certain at some point I'll be adding a graphics card that requires a PSU capable of 400W or more and didn't want to deal with a non-standard motherboard.
