No it doesn't.  I own one of these.  For my purposes it's a non-issue, (Gaming headphones are awesome.) your mileage may vary.

what mhz is this ? 60 mhz ? 144 mhz

Not sure what you mean by MHz.  Nothing on a display is measured in Mhz.  The vertical refresh rate is 60Hz and the horizontal refresh rate is 67Khz, if you are referring to the refresh rate.  I've been very happy with this display.  I have had it since June of 2014, and it has not given me any problems.

no, there are no built in speakers or microphone.  I personally would rather use non-integrated speakers and mic.

What is the distance from desktop to bottom of monitor?

it sits almost exactly 3 1/4" off my desk. its a little low for my center of viewing.
I'd put something under it if it's going to sit on a desk and try to get to your eye level.

Gateway's website only mention drivers for PCs - Macs aren't listed.  Does this model work with a Mac?  I use a Mac Mini IV. Any accessory needed?

We have it attached to MacBook Pros 2013 using the proper adapter with no visible loss of resolution.

Is this screen a matte or glossy finish? I don't know how to know which monitors have which finish in the description.

The screen itself is not glossy - meaning I see no glare from other monitors or lamps in the same room.  The enclosure is a glossy black.  I've purchased three of this type and am so far very happy with them.

Your video card and computer will know. Mine started up correctly. Just had to switch my right to left in setup.

No.. the Gateway KX2703bd does NOT have inbuilt speakers.

Are all DVI cables the same? If not which do I need for this monitor.?

Basically, yes.  They are all the same.  They pass digital display information only.  No audio, like HDMI.  You don't get a slightly better picture with better cables like you would with an analog cables.  You either get a perfect picture or you get pixilation.  Broken cables might occur more often with cheaper DVI cables, but only if you are moving them around and putting stress on them.
