It does not come with wireless but it is very easy to buy a usb wireless adapter and you are all set. A very nice basic computer that will be plenty powerful enough unless you want to play the newest generation of games. The price is about what it would cost to buy Windows 8 by itself, free computer.

i need to know if this computer can be used with wireless internet?

This computer does not come with a wireless internet port built in. It has an ethernet port for connecting with an ethernet cable to a modem or router. It features a good number of USB ports, however, so if a wireless connection is required for you, perhaps you will be able to find a good USB Wireless Internet Adapter that will suit your needs. Product has an extra slot for expanding RAM memory. What do I purchase for RAM to work in this slot....what are the qualifications?

It has to be DDR3 and it holds a max of 8 gigs of ram so you could rather purchase an extra 4 gig of ram. The Kingston 4gb 240-pin DDR3 item# N82E16820239263 should be good enough and its not to expensive. Hope this helps.

Does this version of Windows 8 include media center?  Looking to record and watch shows with a TV tuner and wondered if this Windows 8 includes media center component.  I did not see what version of Windows 8 is installed.  Thanks

It's Windows 8.  In order to get media center you will have to add windows 8.1 Pro Pak and add the Media Center add on. Can win 8 be configured to look line win 7 desktop on this computer?

Yes and no.  It's not exactly easy.  The system starts up with the "start" screen, with buttons to push for the applications.  In the lower left of the screen there is a "desktop" button, and when you push it it converts to the more familiar desktop.  Getting applications to show on that desktop is sometimes complicated.    You still have access control panel differently, though, and I haven't yet found a way to set the desktop as the default when it first starts up.  I fought the thing for about a day doing the setup (this is the first Win 8 machine I've set up), and after I learned the system a little I like it better.  It's intuitive but you have to fight your old instincts really hard.  Be sure and update to the Windows 8.1 update--that really helps, giving "cues" on the start screen.  I have no problem using it myself--but I'm setting it up for my brother's family and I really don't relish the training I'm going to have to do to get them up and running (these are people who don't understand the concept of Windows Explorer and Folders, so take that for what it's worth).  The machine itself seems adequate for what it cost.  Don't expect to game on it, that's not what it's for, but Office (already owned a registration key) opens quickly and everything seems to work well.  One quirk--you have to put the restore files on a USB drive, it won't let you do DVD's.  Takes a 16 GB thumb drive, and you have to go to the big apps list from the start menu, you can't do it from the desktop.  (Do it, don't even think about not making a restore disc.  Trust me.)

Since these are refurbished, I would say that things may vary, but mine has a Pioneer DVD-R DVR-220RS in it.  I would imagine they all would have a similar read/write DVD/CD unit.

Do you think this would be good for gaming?

Hi, if you are looking for a good replacement PC to perform simple tasks, than this is the computer for you.  However, if you are looking for a gaming PC, definitely look elsewhere.  I only purchased this as a secondary PC for office/school work.  It does not have the specs for any major gaming or major multimedia purposes.

WiFi ready? WIFI adapter available? Which?

I had that same concern fortunately while WiFi is not built in all I had to do was buy a $24.95 (before tax) adapter from my local Wal-Mart (Belkin is the brand name of it. It was a local item from my store not online) install the CD and plug it into my usb port it works great loads huge videos in a jiffy (I watch a lot of movies online) and streams online games with little to no lag.
