Question 1

Advertised as backlit keyboard and there's a sticker right on it that says it is backlit however there's no backlight as far as I can tell or an option to turn one on - I wrote Gigabyte a week ago and haven't heard back. Please advise?

Hi MD,

To turn "ON" backlit keyboard, hold down the function key "fn", then tap the spacebar. There are two options : normal or high(bright). The first tap to spacebar is low, then a second tap to spacebar is high setting.  Turn "off", just tap spacebar a 3rd time.

I absolutely love this laptop. I bought two Crucial CT256M550SSD3 256GB mSata's and have them in the mobo's "Raid 0"setting, in 2 arrays. I have three Operating systems running : Windows 7x64, Windows 8.1x64 on the first array, and Ubuntu Mate 15.04 x64 on the other. I use the 1tb hdd as encrypted storage partitions.

I bought a matching TS1GSK64W6H 8gb memory to make a total of 16gb.

The total upgrade for hardware was $277. The data transfer rate doubled with the raid setup.

She's a little bit of a fingerprint magnet, but a damp rag with a little screen cleaning gel on it seems to wipe em away just fine.

It says 100-240V and 50-60 Hz.

Is the Operating System loaded to the SSD?

It's loaded to the SSD. It's kind of annoying as most of my SSD space is taken up by it.

Hello! Got a couple of questions: 1) Is this Wide Viewing Angle LCD? 2) Does this laptop have WiFi AC? (Gigabyte's website said it has it) but here it doesn't say. Thanks~

I thought it was AC, but just ran test in Linux which results are : Intel Wireless 7620 abgn only.

Can anypne confirm if the 860m is maxwell or kepler? 4gb versions come as either variant but the difference is important.

I used Piriform Speccy and it says that I have a "GeForce GTX 860M".

Is there any port-replicator or docking station for this computer? I want to connect it to two monitors and work with it while it has the cover closed. How can I do it? Thanks.

There is no way to attach a docking station.   It does have HDMI and USB ports so you could use those ports and set the power management settings to not turn off when the lid is closed.

It has separate mic and headphone jacks, 1 USB 2.0 and 2 3.0 ports, and ethernet.

this netboook is good.
but it has some flaws
it doesn't work touch pad
and when I try bright screen F4 button sometimes doesn't work

Hi Hokue L,

The GIGABYTE P35Gv2 is NOT a "netbook", it is a powerful desktop replacement "laptop".

I say that because netbooks do NOT have the hardware this GIGABYTE P35Gv2 laptop has.

As far as the screen brightness : just to confirm that the process to adjust the screen brightness on this GIGABYTE P35Gv2 is to hold down the "Fn" tab, while tapping either the "F3" or the "F4" key. F3 to reduce brightness, and the F4 to increase brightness.

If you are having difficulties, you may want to confirm your hardware has the correct current drivers, and also that you are free from malware and/or virus.

How much RAM can it hold and how many drives can I put in it? Also is it easy to upgrade?

I have 2 microSata's in Raid 0, the original 1TB hdd for storage, and have the option to put a 4th hard drive/ssd in the "drive caddy" that comes included from Gigabyte in place of the dvd burner..

Someone said they had to upgrade the BIOS when they purchased this laptop, did others have to update the BIOS as well?

I just bought mine last week and I didn't need to update the BIOS.  Everything worked fine right out of the box.   The only issue I had was I had to call microsoft to activate Windows 8 over the phone.  The product key Gigabyte had installed on the laptop was already in use but a quick call to Gigabyte and one to Microsoft fixed the issue.
