One owner reported that using the USB ports locks up the system.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey Frank, No Problems here, I really like this motherboard, If you get this and you use this memory (GSkill F4-3000C15-8GVRB) 16Gigs, make sure you use the F2 bios only!!! I talked to Gigabyte about there latest bios XMP profiles wont stick with any other bios :( F2 bios works perfect!!!

Does this motherboard include WiFi support?

No. Not natively onboard. Options are X1 PCIe card or USB. Possibly the m2 slot but that has a much better use as the SSD.

on to random thoughts: But if you can avoid wifi on a higher end platform commanding a premium for not only the CPUs where demand outstrips supply intermittently, but also the 100 series chipsets in particular Z170 boards where the $300 price point is back from retirement, I suggest you do. String some cat6. Not only is the 2.4Ghz band noiser than hell, and 5ghz is short on reach and actual speed, the wire to radio (modulation delays) and one station talks at a time means that your machine waits for clear airtime (let's call that "really it isn't token ring, using radios, we promise" delay), and Bursty speeds due to variables too numerous to list, really if you are throwing down on for example an I7 k-sku Skylake, a new board and buying new fairly expensive DDR4, and probably a new m.2 NVMe SSD (x4 PCIe is 110% worth it, staring at nearly 2000MB/sec and better random and small IO speeds - it was the most notable improvement this generation), even hiring someone to pull some cable is a drop in the bucket particularly if you game, transfer files stored locally, or move more than the occasional web page or YouTube clip across your network or Internet connection. Not to mention your neighbor can perfectly well plop down a shiny new router and trounce your experience to the dumps at any point.

Question 3

Well, I ordered DDR3 RAM for this board and I'll lose a good bit if I return it.  Will DDR3 work with this motherboard?

Sorry, not that I am aware. Ddr3 has 240 pins and ddr4 has 288. Pinout is different and would indicate a severe compatibility issue.  Besides the fact that you may need a hammer to install it, since notch alignment is probably different.

Can I use an LGA 1150 i7 CPU for this board? or is it completely non compatible

This ga-z170mx board states it is socket 1151,  the i7 youre asking about is 1150.  They are different socket types.  No it will not fit/ work.  You would need an i5-6600k or i7-6700k sky lake processor which is lga1151.

Can I use Intel® SSD 750 Series (400GB, 1/2 Height PCIe 3.0, 20nm, MLC) ?

Yes. That is a PCIe card and fits just like a graphics card, and sound card.

One reviewer said the USB ports lock up the whole system.  For the others who have bought this board, have you experienced similar issues or is this an isolated incident?

I've had all USB devices stop responding after I wake the system from sleep mode. Currently using F3 Bios...

Can M.2 be used as an SSD? Or is it just SATA?

It will support either SATA based M.2 form factor drive modules OR pci express based M.2 cards such as NVMe SSDs or concievably any other pci express connected card someone cares to manufacture in the m.2 format - combo wifi Bluetooth is a good example. The pins in this slot are split and essentially have SATA wired to one chunk of pins and pci express (4 lanes or "x4") to the other chunk.

Would a Noctua DH-14/15 fit with Zotac Amp Extreme in first slot?

I had an Evo 212 (120mm cooler) with a MSI Twin Frozer (similarly sized GPU) and it did fit, but with very little clearance. I imagine that the NH-14 (also 120mm) will fit nicely, but that that the NH-15 (140mm) will not. You will also want to make sure the heat spreader on your RAM isn't too tall, as any large cooler will definitely have to overlap it on this board. Hope this helps.

Can I access the BIOS with a Bluetooth Keyboard ?

This mainboard has no bluetooth connectivity so you'd need to have a PCIe card or USB device to provide the bluetooth. Unfortunately, it's very doubtful the BIOS can magically know how to use third-party bluetooth devices. In other words, it won't have the necessary drivers. Good news though: a wired keyboard for 10$ will fix this problem.

Any problem using G.Skill part# F4-3200C16D-32GVK on this board?

Did not use this specific product. But the mobo handles the g.skill Trident Z 32GB (4 x 8) 3200 Mhz kit flawlessly. Just load up the xmp profile and you should be fine
