I'm running a ryzen 5 1600 running at 4.0ghz system with a evga GTX 970 with a 600w Power supply. Will I need to upgrade my PSU to use this GPU?

It's a reference 1080ti, but the draw should be similar or less than this specific card. According to the article you need a minimum of 600 - 650 watt, that's without over clocking your CPU or GPU. So a 600 Watt might do it, but you would be cutting it close. There is a link in the article to recommended PSU's as well.

which processor and motherboard should i get if I buy this GPU?

Depends on your needs, if you want to game at the fullest, getting an 8700k with a decent mobo, I went with the ASROCK Taichi because of better high end RAM support and overclocking along with a 16GB 4266Mhz GSkill set. Works great if you don't have a budget limit.   I'm running the 8700k at 5.1Ghz without delidding, maxes out at 90C under massive stress test. Normal conditions it never tops 75C.

I play on a 165Hz 2k display. So I needed the best gaming parts I could get to try and maintain 165FPS.

How wide is the card? I've heard 2.5-3 slots. I have a Thermaltake View 31 case, the plan is to use the vertical VGA mount to fend of the "sagging". I want to make sure it fits before I buy the connectors.

The card is 2 slots wide, it took up two of my mounting brackets when i mounted it to my phanteks enthroo pro. hope this helps!

I noticed a couple of bad reviews regarding the "OC" and "Gaming" modes for this card. Is this a common issue? Does the same issue happen with the Xtreme Edition?

If I was you, I would not use the Aorus software if it gives you issues. MSI afterburner is usually a lot more stable, you will just have to manually adjust the overclocks (very easy to do).

Is the cooler on this model the same as the Xtreme Edition? They appear similar in photos.

Yes, same cooler as Extreme with the limitations mentioned already. Backplates are different, though. this one has a smaller copper plate on the back and the bird isn't illuminated. For 30 dollars not much different. Friend has extreme he gets roughly +50 - 100 more on benchmarks. We even have same Motherboard, Processor and Ram.

Why is this card so cheap compared to others?

I am not sure of the technical reason but if your concerns are anything to do with performance let me put that to rest. I have owned this card for some time and have ZERO compaints. Its super quiet, reliable and a beast. I dont think about performance and settings much with this card, crank that s^$& and go 4k party time!

I can run Forza horizon 4 4k all settings maxxed at 60fps. I also run 90+ fps steady when using my Samsung Odyssey with games like Fallout 4 VR

Short of the new 20xx series cards, this mofo is king for people with limited pocketbooks

How hot does this card run for people on average under load? How long has this graphics card lasted you? Any positive RMA experiences?

Stays in the mid 60s C, Still running great after a year and a half, no need to RMA.

Question 9

It says this card has a front facing HDMI port for VR Link.  So the plug is inside your case and on the back of the video card?  This seems like a bad idea... either accidentally touching something inside trying to plug VR in OR yank VR cord and it rips card out of mobo.
Can anyone who has actually used this card either confirm or deny my suspicions?

I just plug my VR in the second HDI port in the back, but if your using to monitors then the front VR port is an option.

What comes in the box of this card? With the ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Strix, it comes with a power connector right out of the box. Does this card do the same?
