can this be used with a VGA monitor?

This can be used with a vga monitor but the card itself has no vga port on it so you will need an adapter. Either hdmi to vga or dvi to vga or display port to vga adapter/cord. Again the video card itself has no VGA port on it.

Is this item new?

Yes. Everything in it. Excellent built graphics card. Mine overclocked to a stable 1598Mhz. Its the 960 I recommend. Uses the same cooler as the 980 so it stays extremely cool. 44 degrees is the highest I've saw. Buy the G1.

How big is this card in length and width? I need to know because my case might be too small.

Took every bit of room in my Fractal Design Define R4 ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case with the drive cage still going back in after install.   Specs on Define are : Fits Graphics cards up to 295mm in length with the top HDD cage installed.

Width used the dual slot area fully.

What are the Dimensions of this, Will this fit into a micro ATX case?

It's just shy of 12 inches. I believe its around 11.5. I'm not sure of the exact length without actually checking the specs, but I just barely managed to get it inside a Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 so I can't really say for sure as all miniITX cases are different. My opinion would be to just go for the EVGA SSC or MSI GAMING Edition cards. The EVGA has a very similar base/boost clock, I believe in the 1330-1340 range, my card from Gigabyte actually turbos around 1379 but over clocked to 1588 pretty easily without even touching voltage. It's a great card, but I don't know of many miniITX cases that can fit a card this size. Would definitely recommend the EVGA SSC.

does this fit in a regular desktop case?

Is your desktop case a Mid-Tower?
If it is, yes but also depends on where your hard drive bay is located. For example, is your hard drive cables facing towards the motherboard or away from the motherboard? If it's facing away, then it should fit. Just need lots of wiring work to clear the space.

I have an dell  xps 8700 is this card compatible for an upgrade to my system because the video card in my sys isn't fast enough?

can HDMI output 4K ?

The 2.0 HDMI does support 4k output but, be advised that the source of the video must be 4k as well otherwise it won't be displaying 4k resolution plus you would need a 4k capable monitor.

Will this work in a msi z97-G45 motherboard?

Asus Pro Z97 is the motherboard that I use this card with. I'm certain you will have excellent performance in the number one slot. I'm not too sure about the SLI or the double card configuration performance. But I do think that this single card at 1080 P will work wonders. Since the chipset for the Zen 97 for the Intel CPU I'm sure it will perform well and fit nicely but keep in mind this is a fairly big card just make sure you allow for the extra room. The Windforce Logo on the edge of the card...does it light up? What color? Can it be changed or turned off?

I am unsure of whether or not it can be changed as I am still in the process of setting up my computer; but when I power it up it's light/electric blue at first.

My power supply is only 460W and I wanted to upgrade from a GTX 660 to this. Can I use this card?

Gigabyte recommends a minimun 400 watt PSU.  I am using a 430 watt PSU with a core i7-2600 and it runs fine, just make sure your power supply has 2 PCI-E power connectors to power this particular card
