There is no optical drive. You'll need an external one. Also, the touch pad is hard to use. I'd get a mouse.

Not really. The whole chassis has to be pulled apart.  Search for a review on the website TweakTown (page 3) to see an image of what happens when the laptop is opened.  The battery is very integrated-looking and I doubt replacing it would be a simple task.  I would personally consider it integrated/life-of-the-product.
