A lot of things factor into whether or not the fans kick on (the only thing that really makes noise on a GPU. In the default fan settings, the gpu fans rarely turn on. When they do, they aren't any louder than the case fans (i.e. you shouldn't hear a significant difference in the db level).

I also have this GPU.
The highest wattage reading I’ve seen is 335W (in the GeForce alt-R info overlay) while playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

A side note:
if you turn on “v-sync” in the game’s video settings  (which limits the GPU’s frame generation to Max sync speed of your monitor, the maximum GPU wattage drops to about 180W.
There’s no reason to generate 200 to 300 fps when your monitor can only display 60fps.

this card is about 14" long and 2.5 to 3" thick; so, I'm guessing that it won't fit in your case and, if it does, it won't have enough room to get the air it requires for cooling.

It's a big card (approximately, 14" long and 2.5 to 3" thick) and, while I've not put it on a scale, it is considerably heavier than earlier GPUs of the same length.
