Hello, I do not see why there is incompatibility, both of which have SATA III connection. The SAMSUNG 850 EVO communicates with the MB using SATA (6.0Gbit / s = SATA III) data connection and the motherboard has 6 6.0Gbit / s (SATA III) connectors. I even bought an 850 EVO of 240GB to put in my GB Z370 GAMING 5, but I am still not with both on hand to test them, but I do not believe in their incompatibility.

No, this is z370 motherboard, only works with 8th generation intel cpu. For i7 6700 you have to get intel B,H, Z170 or Z270 motherboards.

Would a gtx 1070 work with this board?

Yes, I currently use a Nvidia GTX1070 with this mobo. I am using a EK waterblock though, but the card sits the same again the I/O panel area and doesn’t have interference with the audio plastic panel along the rear that some people say video cards hit against. It’s close, but it fits fine and no contact with any parts.

will a kaby lake 7700 91 watt work with this board?

Unfortunately not. As the product description states, this is only for the 8th generation Intel processors and the 7700 is a 7th generation. These are not backwards compatible even though they utilize the same socket type. You will require the 100 or 200 series of their motherboards to be compatible. Can I raid 0 with all 3 m.2 slots? Two of the three slots are pcie/sata compatible while the 3rd is only pcie. I have three intel 530 series m.2 sata ssd lying around and I want to raid 0 them.

No, only the top two M.2 slots will work for RAID. I have tried the lower slot and it will not be recognized for RAID array setup.

What is the different between this version and the Gaming 7? It seems like this is a better deal since it also has Wifi AC?

Gaming 5 has wifi, gaming 7 has a water block built in for custom water cooling. Make sure to look at all of the 1-star reviews on the gaming series bords before you buy one. There are a few issues left to resolve. Stil a good board.

The onboard WiFi works extremely well.  You’ll need to install the WiFi driver from the motherboard disk once you’re up and running, then update the driver through Windows Device Manager.

I use Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15) Works absolutely perfectly.
