Do you have to buy a seperate TPM chip to install Windows 11 on this board?

You do not need to buy a separate TPM chip for Windows 11. Most modern intel chips have a variation of TPM integrated into the processor and need to be either enabled in the bios or is already enabled based on how recent the chip/board was.

I found this that may help:

Is the default SSD heatsink good enough or would you go with a better one?

i used the default SSD motherboard heatsink with the Samsung 990 pro 2TB drive and seems to be perfectly fine. so i would say you're fine to use it as is on non-heatsinked pcie 4.0 drive. im not like trying to look or the temp or anyting but it weems to work just fine.

i do have a  fractal torrent case which has a ton of airflow..may be relevant.. may not be.. but for me.. i can say i have had no issues. make of that data what you will

What kind of RGB cooling fans will work with this motherboard? looking for a set of 3 fans together in one pack.

3-pin 5 volt or 4 pin 12 volt, has 2 sets of each.  I use Phanteks m25-140s (3pack), 120s (2-3packs) w hub and Deep Cool LS720 AIO w(Deep Cool 3pack w hub)  .  I would recommend a fan RGB/PWM hub to manage over 5-6 fans.  I use a Lian Li O11DXL-X O11 Dynamic XL ROG case and replaced the front glass with a custom grill from a company in Europe that can mount 3 140s or 120 fans for better cooling and a customized look.

Does this board have multi-channel RAM?

Yes, this board has support for Dual (2) channel memory. Please note that if you are trying to run 1x16 or 2x8 rank memory (consult your memory specifications) you might not be able to run it at the X.M.P profile. I have 128GB of DDR5 5600 CL36 memory and was only able to run it at 4800 CL36 due to the strain that amount of memory puts on the memory controller. Try to keep the total memory capacity to 16-32 GB (16GB is ideal as it only populates one channel).

I have a medium overclock on basically everything CPU 13700k, GPU 7900XT, RAM running on a gold rated 850wt PSU. All air cooled.

Runs very quiet. I havent noticed any whine.

You do not need to update the bios. Z790 boards are native to 13th Generation Intel CPUs.The Z790 architecture is the latest chipset that pairs perfectly with the new Intel Raptor Lake CPUs (13th Gen).  You should update the bios for better security, performance, and bug fixes for the board and component integration. I find it best to update all drivers and the Bios when I get a new board to ensure I have the highest chance to get the most out of what I spent for the computer.

Question 10

Can the QFlash Plus be used with an unsupported CPU installed in the board or do you need to remove the unsupported CPU first before the qflash plus will work?  My mobo is not booting presumably due to an older bios version and a newer unsupported i7-14700k.  I don't want to have to unneededly remove the cpu now and re-apply my hsg and cooler, but will if it is required.

With GIGABYTE Q-Flash Plus, you don't need to install the CPU, memory, and graphics card nor enter the BIOS menu to flash the BIOS. Just download and save a new BIOS file (rename to gigabyte.bin) on the USB flash drive, then press the dedicated Q-Flash Plus button and you’re good to go!
