Hi will this work with my DVI-D Monitor?

Purchased mine to adapt a DVI Female cable (Lacie 20" monitor) connector to my 5 year old Thinkpad VGA input. Computer would not recognize monitor with adapter. Ended up reverting to VGA cable from monitor to laptop. However, I have used other adapters VGA to DVI that came with old VGA CRT monitors, and they worked properly.

This is the correct adapter to take a pc that has a vga port cable to attach to a monitor that has a hdmi port?

no this is to connect VGA to DVI port. Check out StarTech...they have HDMI to VGA converters that work good for around 30 bucks. But I am not sure they would work if the PC is VGA and thr monitor in HDMI. If it was the other way around then it would for sure. I would suggest asking around in tech forums first.Hope that helped.
