Great RAM!
Pros: - Easy to install - this is kind of on Intel for XMP, but man is it nice to pop in new RAM and let the chip figure it out for you. - 32GB in two sticks instead of 4. You kids have it so easy these days. - Fast. Adds FPS in games.
Cons: - My old RAM had pretty LED lights...that I never looked at or used. But they were there!
Overall Review: My old RAM was 4 sticks of C****** V****** Pro 8GB 2666 - you can see my review of that product in my NewEgg profile. Good stuff. So you might think that 2 sticks of 16GB 3200 might not be that huge of an upgrade...and you're right. BUT, you will see results. I uploaded screenshots of my UserBenchmarks for both sets of RAM with XMP enabled. Clearly the performance of the Crucial RAM is above the slower C**** RAM. The read/write time is improved as is the latency. (Crucial shows up as Unknown on the screenshots) I booted up a bunch of games I've been playing recently, and there is a jump in FPS. Now, 20 more FPS in Diablo IV when the base was 180 FPS to begin with probably isn't going to blow your mind, but if you don't already have 32GB of RAM or you are putting a new PC or upgraded PC together, this is a pretty good deal. And you could always go nuts and buy a second set for 64GB of RAM. Not that you'd really get much use from that...but you could! 32Gb is my gold standard for PC right now. Plenty of RAM for both games and video editing, and this is fast stuff. It ought to tide me over until we're all forced into DDR5 by 2030. This is a great dual-channel set of RAM for a reasonable price.
Why? What is this for?
Pros: Yeah, I got nothing.
Cons: - SLOW. - Tiny battery life. - Poor connection between keyboard and tablet. - Did I mention SLOW? - What the heck is wrong with the speakers? They crackle even when the system is muted. - There's no system power to run things, but the back gets hot anyway.
Overall Review: Look, I'm not sure what this thing is supposed to be for. Web browsing? It's too slow. Pages take forever to load and there is crazy lag when scrolling. Word processing? It's so slow Word has to catch up to my typing. Besides that, the keyboard seems to miss about 20% of my keystrokes. Forget playing games. Windows 10 came with Candy Crush Soda Saga installed. I laughed so hard at this system when it kept freezing on a game my phone can crush. Forget trying to install Hearthstone or anything similar. Honestly, this reminds me of those $30 Android tablets they sold in drugstores. Yup, it's cheaper than a Surface. Nope, you're not saving money, because you won't be able to do anything you want to do with this, and you'll end up having to buy something more expensive anyway. If zero eggs was a choice, I would have picked it.
Great game, exc ellent release day discount from Newegg!
Pros: - If you loved The Last of Us, it's more of that. - I had been waiting for a PS5 version FOREVER and the PC version came first. Which is great, because I sold my PS5 a year ago. - $10 off on release day from Newegg. Yes!
Cons: - Likely never see another TLoU game in my lifetime
Overall Review: - Naughty Dog; I love Uncharted and The Last of Us. Can't recommend highly enough.
Good upgrade if you have an older INtel chip.
Pros: Fast - improved rendering time in Davinci, improved fps in games, improved office software speed.
Cons: Intel and their 1 generation sockets. You will likely have to upgrade your motherboard for this. And your RAM.
Overall Review: All of the reviews I watched online concentrated on what a bad upgrade this is from the previous generation. They're likely correct; You won't get your price/performance ratio right on this if you have the last gen Intel chip. If you are like me, however, you only upgrade once your current chip is insufficient and starting to drag down the system when gaming and working. My last CPU purchase was in 2019; An Intel I7 8700K. I edit video in 4K. Davinci was starting to drag during the editing process and take forever to render. I also game on an Ultra-Widscreen monitor and I really like all my graphical bells and whistles. My GPU is a 4070 Ti, so it's no slouch, but I could feel newer games starting to be held back by the CPU. Of course, upgrading to the 265KF required a new motherboard, new RAM (DDR5 vs 4), and a new AIO. And while I was at it, I just went full on and replaced the case & soundcard and bought another M2 Nvme to add to the storage. So, while it's probably not worth all that if you have last year's INtel chip, replacing a chip from 2019 resulted in a huge leap in performance in video editing and productivity software performance, and an average increase of 20fps in the games I play. Is it all the chip? I'm sure some of it is the PCI-E 5 interface for my GPU and NVme and the DDR5 RAM, but some of it is definitely the chip itself. TLDR: Is your chip from the last couple of years? Do not upgrade. Is your chip 5+ years old? Upgrade. Chip good. Unga bunga.
Good backup option
Pros: - 2.72TB of useable backup space - Attractive blue casing with subtle blue lighting that doesnt blind you with an overly bright LED - Fast when hooked up via USB 3 ports Im averaging about 132MB/s from my laptops USB 3.0 ports.
Cons: - Included backup software is featureless and not terribly good. Mostly you will want to retrieve files that have been corrupted from an uncorrupted backup and not recopy an entire image of all backed up files, however this software will only restore the entire image, and it saves it as an image and not files. I would highly recommend using a different backup software.
Overall Review: For the money, this is a good external backup drive option, especially if you already have a backup software that you like. One egg was subtracted for the included software, which is just ridiculously basic and not really worth anything. Edit: 2025 - This drive is still going and being written to and from DAILY and has been since I did the original review back in 2018, 7 YEARS AGO. Quality.
Great looking RAM!
Pros: - Look fantastic. The white casing is really set off by the lights. - XMP Compliant no fiddling with the BIOS trying to get the numbers set right, just plug it in and go! (And boy I do not miss that) - The lights are configurable via the CUE software from Corsair BUT, you can also use the latest version of Asuss Aura software to control them. My motherboard and video card are by Asus, and the RAM, cooling, and case are Corsair and I can get them all to sync up with lighting patterns now. - Fast, and stable overclocked I tested it up to 3000Mhz just to see if I could error it out.
Cons: - Uh, its good looking, fast, stable, and decently priced. I cant think of a single con. It didnt add 500fps to any of my games? It doesnt spray unicorns and rainbows all over the case window when I turn it on? (Well, it kind of does spray rainbows.so scratch that)
Overall Review: I admit I am biased. My whole PC is full of Corsair products from the PSU to the cooling for the CPU to the RAM, to the Case. But, I have been using Corsair for decades and they have never let me down, and this RAM didn't either.
