Great Product but has some querks 7/19/2018 6:03:01 AM

Pros: Decent UEFI BIOS, solid bord, fit all my components.

Cons: -USB ports are to close togther. If what your pluging in is to thick like a Wireless USB adapot and your mouse and keybord are pluged in above it, It just wont fit.

-IF your using a Full Sized GPU it will cover your 6gb/s Sata slots. so you only have acess to 3gb/s slots if your gpu is to big
In my case Geforce 1050 TI 4gb

Overall Review: -great bord in generial
-Space out the USB ports would be nice.
-if you want your 6bg/s dont use a big GPU

good motherboard 4/12/2018 2:45:07 PM

Pros: i can use my pci sound card. it works with oculus rift, it works with my i7 4790 cpu, all 4 memory slots work, all usb slots work the usb 3 is usb 3, the io is easy to fit the mobo in, everythings nice

Cons: no cons

Overall Review: when i first got it i installed the mobo, all 4 memory slots had ram, videocard, sound card, hdd, everything, then it wouldn't boot to beep once.

I had read a review that you had to use an older cpu to update the bios first, then the mobo would work. So i installed the old cpu and still nothing.

So i took ram out of slots 1 and 2 and had ram in slots 3 and 4 and it booted up. I was ok with only 2 memory slots.

then i installed windows 10 and after it finished all updates the 1 usb 3 port was dead, ai suite said to reinstall usb suite after all updates. so i reinstalled the asus ai suite and that fixed it so all usb ports worked fine and the usb 3 ports were usb 3.

then i read online that the cpu cooler was to blame for some memory slots not working, and someone said if you tried a different cpu cooler, 4 memory slots might work.

so i used the default intel cpu cooler that came with the cpu and sure enough all 4 memory slots worked!

so i took off the cpu cooler, removed the thermal paste, and put on some mx arctic thermal paste, then put the heat sink back on. before i used cheap white thermal paste and it stuck my cpu to my heat sink, and when i removed my heat sink it bent the motherboard pins, ruining the motherboard.

what was wrong with my old cpu cooler was i got one of those fancy cooler master cpu coolers ,and it has a metal piece you screw the nuts into and then screw the heat sink into the nuts. well when i got the cpu cooler the insulator looked like packaging so i scrapped off the insulator and left a shiny metal back that touched the motherboard back, and that metal piece was sending the electricity to the wrong parts of the motherboard which stopped the 2 memory slots from working.

the cpu cooler that came with the cpu doesn't use a metal bracket to screw nuts into, so it cant short out the memory.

i created an rma and had it all ready to go then tried the intel cpu cooler and it was good so i'm not returning my motherboard. thatnks asus and newegg for a nice motherboard!

Exactly what I needed 2/28/2018 12:06:27 AM

Pros: -Plug and Play: Literally worked right out of the box with all my existing parts. Installed Windows 10 from a USB stick and didn't even have to bother with downloading drivers - it all worked on the first try.
-Clearance: Heat sinks, memory slots, etc are all relatively low on the board. This helps when using larger parts, such as two-slot video cards, etc. Works great with my Titan X (2015). I also use a custom CPU cooler (the NZXT Kraken X41).

Cons: None that jump out at me beyond the compromises that come with Micro ATX motherboards. RAM slots are a little higher than my last motherboard, meaning that I had to rearrange the radiator for my Kraken X41. No big deal, but something to keep in mind if the top of your case is a little tight.

Overall Review: Got this to replace a regular ATX motherboard that went bad. This seemed to be the best compromise between price and motherboard size since it can be a little harder to find 1150 sockets. Works well with my previous parts and does the job well for gaming. Obviously marketed as a "business" model but works fine for personal use.

Easy and simple. Highly recommended.

Easy to setup. No issues as all. 12/29/2017 9:18:43 PM

Pros: Price is right
6-6gb/s sata ports

Cons: None

Overall Review: Not sure why there are critical reviews of this. I had no issues whatsoever. I upgraded my home theater PC with this, an i7-4770K cpu, 16gb of ram, intel ssd, and windows 10. I just plugged everything in, hit the power button and that was it.

I did not use any of the drivers off the included disk. They were very old. Windows 10 found all the latest version automatically for me, so I literally did not have to do anything special to get this working.

I chose this because it had 6-6gb/s sata ports and I wanted to put in a lot of storage for pictures, video, etc...

Worked great for 6 months 7/6/2016 10:54:38 AM

Pros: Nothing exciting or special that sets this motherboard apart. It did the job I needed - that is, until it didn't

Cons: On June 21, 2016 I requested an RMA from ASUS for this board because after 6 months of working it wouldn't cold boot because it didn't recognize that there was a hard drive plugged into the board. In order to boot, I had to turn on the computer, enter the BIOS and then immediately exit so that it would recognize that there was actually a hard drive so that it would boot up properly.

Overall Review: As I stated earlier, on June 21, 2015, I requested an RMA from ASUS, Here it is July 6, 2016 and I haven't heard back from their so-called "technical support" people on this matter. I've been very patient, but 15 days is getting a little ridiculous.

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Valued Customer,

We appreciate you taking the time to inform us on your ASUS experience. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Have you already set your Boot Option priority #1 to your OS drive? Please double check each cable on the motherboard including your 24pin/8pin power plug connectors. Please make sure all your GPU connectors are firmly installed and that all your SATA drives are receiving power from your PSU. Clear CMOS and see if the board will POST. If it will not, pull one memory module and place the other stick in the slot furthest from the CPU and see if that helps. If you need a help with any technical questions or general inquiries you can reach me at

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Best Regards,

Reliable 9/22/2015 6:43:02 AM

Pros: Very reliable, 4 RAM slots, takes up to an i7. 2 PCI slots for + 2 PCIe x16's. Has PS2(x2), HDMI, DP, DVI, VGA, USB3, USB2, Intel NIC + audio all on the I/O. Possibly the best I/O combination I've ever seen.

Cons: Had a board or two that were DOA out of 50 or so. Very normal though.

Overall Review: We switched to this build when Intel stopped making their own motherboards. They have been stable and reliable. We have probably built over 50 systems with this board and only a couple DOA boards. Nice overall business level board.

200 of these without issue 4/9/2015 8:17:35 AM

Pros: We don't purchase these mainboards from Newegg, but I have built up close to 200 of these systems in Antec cases with Antec power supplies and Kingston memory. We have not had any failures with any of them. It makes me wonder what the negative reviewers are doing wrong as it isn't a complicated build. I am not a big fan of Asus mainboards, but these are no frills, fully functional mainboars.

Cons: Inexperienced users posting bad reviews on a good product.

Overall Review: The B85M is just as good if you don't need VPro.
