It does not. You can connect an external speaker to it and it works great.

Is this monitor compatible with Nvidia Gsync?

Not as far as I can tell. Using the monitor with an Nvidia GTX1080

What does the red button on the back do?

it is the control input to access and navigate menu / settings. You can set it also to hotkey certain settings based on what direction you move the button. For instance, if I move the button to the left, I can scroll through and select different video inputs.
