Works great, needs better QC
Pros: The cooler performs flawlessly. OC'd an I5-2500k to 4.5GHz using a Cooler Master 212+ single fan and hit 95°C, Then installed the PH-TC14PE and the temp never went past 71°C at low fan speeds. This cooler definitely performs and lives up to all the reviews I have read. Also comes with PWM fans now.
Cons: One of the things I have noticed is the mounting plate that goes across the top of the heat-sink base. Often the spring screws are installed on the plate backwards. To fix this, You remove the E-clip that holds the screw to the plate and install the screw on the opposite side of the plate. My cooler was shipped with the spring screws installed on the wrong side. After fixing this issue, I have had no issues installing this massive cooler. The Second issue is if you have any ram with heat-spreaders taller than 40mm, Unless you have a wide case, Then this cooler most likely wont fit. One of the 140mm fans sits right over top of the memory slots closest to the CPU socket. I use an Antec 300 case and this thing is so large that I can barely close the side door of the case with G.skill Ripjaw X memory sticks.
Overall Review: Phanteks needs to QC the product better or the people assembling the product. Can be an awesome cooler if everything is set up properly. just check the mounting plate and your case width.
AMD guy, first intel chip
Pros: OC'd to 3.33ghz on stock heatsink and fan, i could never do this on an AMD chip. 266mhz and 12.5 multiplier gets a 1064 -1066 on the fsb, and i am only running 1.26v on the chip!
Cons: not really a con but the temp at this speed can get to mid to high 60's on the stock heatsink and fan, be sure to get an aftermarket cooler and fan. idle temps are 40C, ambient temp is in the mid 70s in the house.
Overall Review: you can not go 3.33ghz with out memory tuning, but getting the lowest voltage high performance memory makes it easier. my memory is currently running 400mhz, 2:3 fsb:dram, 4-4-4-12 2T 1.9v
Comments: i have had this router for two years, and went through 3 cable modems, works great, the linksys modem i have disconnects frequently and enters a false sync mode though. i am purchasing the motorola surfboard 5100. hopefully i will not get disconnected so much. plug and surf on this router is great feature too!!
