I use two of these hubs with a Mac-mini, and so far (1 month), they have performed without problems.  As other users have noted, the wiring connected to the AC adapter plug is somewhat short: long enough for the hub to sit on a desktop and the AC adapter on the floor, next to the desk.  The supplied USB 3.0 cable, in contrast, is about the right length for a floor-based tower, and more than long enough for a desktop-type computer (e.g., Mac-mini).

For travel, these hubs would be great (and the AC adapter is relatively small and lightweight).  For permanent use on a desktop, the hubs are so lightweight that they tend to move around.

Does this hub come with the usb3 cable and power supply?

Yes, it comes with both. The USB 3.0 cable is somewhat shorter than a regular USB 2.0 cable.

Will this product work on a 2.0 usb ? Does 2.0 work faster with tho 3.0 hub?

I bought this to expand USB 3.0 ports so am unable to answer from personal experience. However, experience with other 3.0 devices on 2.0 ports would lead me to believe that this device should be compatible, but that throughput will depend on the lowest speed device or port in the connection.

Where can I get a compatible external power cable?

A 5v DC transformer is included.  Doesn't the description say that?

BTW, the unit works well.  It's only shortcoming is that it's so small and light that it's easily pulled away in the direction of the USB connector exerting the strongest pull.

What cable should I buy?  Or does it come with a cable?  Does the cable have to be Superspeed?  I want the best cable I can get.

Comes with Power and a USB3 cable to connect it to your system.  You need a USB3 on the system and USB3 cables for each of your devices.

What is the length of the cable? Would I need a usb extension to get it to run from the back of my PC up onto my desk?

It's an approx 3 foot USB cable.  I had ordered a replacement 6 foot one since I needed about 4 1/2 feet, my computer is on the floor on the left of the computer and I wanted the hub on the right side of my monitor.  I could have put it on the left with the cable it came with without a problem.  The power cord is about 3 feet as well.

It is about the size of an iPhone. However thicker.  The power adapter is reasonably small.  Overall small enough for me to routinely pack it in my laptop backpack.   I hope this answers your question!

Has anyone found a power cable that is longer than the one it comes with that works like a charm? I just need it to extend by a few feet, but it's already on a power strip (power strip + powerstrip = fire hazard :l)
