Works exactly as advertised.
Pros: It shipped faster than I expected. It let me recover data from old laptop hard drives. I didn't notice any speed issues.
Cons: It worked as advertised. I see no cons in this.
Overall Review: This ONLY works on 2.5" hard drives and SSDs! it does not work on 3.5" drives. This is stated in the product name and description. If you want to use an adapter for those drives, get one that specifically states it functions with 3.5" drives. 2.5" drives run on 5V which USB normally provides. 3.5" hard drives run on 12V for their motors and that is not normally provided by USB, so more advanced converters are needed. Any converter for 3.5" hard drives will probably be more expensive because of this.
Owned for five months now
Pros: Lots of ways to power different USB/5V/12V/120VAC devices. Good balance of just enough power for a fully rated 120v 15 amp outlet and enough energy storage to do so for a full hour while being just light enough to move around without help. The little cooling fan is a lot quieter than a fuel-powered generator.
Cons: I haven't had any issues with it at all, at least not yet.
Overall Review: I bought it on sale for $610. At that price, it was a no-brainer. At the usual list price of $1500, it's too expensive for me, but not entirely outrageous for what it is. I was considering building my own with an inverter and a separate battery pack due to how expensive these units usually are when I saw this on the Shell Shocker deals for $610 with a carrying case and $600 without. At that deep a discount, it just made sense to buy it. I don't use it very often, but it's extremely convenient to have it available the few times I need power on the go. It works great. I've used it to power a vacuum cleaner, both a soldering iron and solder sucker at the same time, and a 1KW jukebox audio amplifier, to name a few. It's been banging around the back of the work car with the rest of the tools and parts and still looks great, so it's reasonably durable. The best part about it, I can leave it in the back of the car for a month or two and it barely loses any charge at all, so it's still ready for work after that long of sitting.
Nice low-priced 1080p 24" monitor
Overall Review: I bought this monitor for $80 and at anywhere near that price you can't go wrong. There were no dead pixels nor any issues. I didn't check color calibration nor use it in fast-paced games. It is connected to a computer running an old version of Ubuntu LTS using an HDMI to DVI cable and came right up with the correct resolution without me having to do anything.
Works great for 2.5" SATA drives
Pros: I bought several of this USB3 to SATA 2.5" adapter for $4.23. That's the cheapest I've ever seen them and they're all working great with sequential speeds matching what the drives are rated for in reviews.
Cons: None
Overall Review: When looking at these, keep in mind they ONLY work on 2.5" drives. They supply only 5V power to the drive, which is fine for 2.5" drives as that's all they use. 3.5" drives need both 5V and 12V and won't work with this adapter. When copying files from a SATA Kingston SUV400S37/240G connected using this adapter to my computer, I got speeds between 350MB/s and 400MB/s for a 10GB transfer to my m.2 SSD.
Bought as a spare.
Pros: I haven't used the computer yet, but I am using the monitor at home. This was the first time I saw this computer available with the monitor included. I now use the monitor as a second monitor for my laptop and am very happy with it despite the somewhat low resolution of 900x1440. There are no damaged pixels and the brightness is fine.
Overall Review: I buy refurbed Dell Optiplex 390 computers to use them to replace broken computers in Dirty Drive'n arcade game machines as they are one of the few OEM computers with driver support from the game's manufacturer. This was the first I had seen that included a monitor at the same price as others that don't include the monitor, so I got this to get the "free" monitor since I just used my last spare Optiplex 390 a week ago. If it's still available the next time I need another Optiplex 390, I'll gladly buy it again.
Has been on 24/7 for over six months in a Dirty Drive'n arcade game machine.
Overall Review: I added a Nvidia GT 730 graphics card and swapped the old used hard drive out for a newer Western Digital Blue 1TB before installing the computer in a Dirty Drive'n racing arcade game machine on location in an arcade. The Dell Optiplex 390 is one of the few computers that has driver support for Dirty Drive'n.
