Packaging was great for a 2TB bulk drive. Packed in a 3.5 inch hard drive sized, inflated bubble wrap pouch (think cocoon), and the drive itself is sealed in anti-static wrap. Perfect other than them not stuffing all the shipping box space also. It would be unlikely to be damaged with normal handling. I have gotten bulk drives with only a couple of loose bubble balloons, allowing drives to shift as if no packing were included. Plus sometimes those pop and deflate in transit. Speed was sufficient for any storage drive and being 7200rpm was a plus for that. I would not use a mechanical HDD for the OS with so many deals for value SSD’s. If I got a PC or laptop with a mechanical drive, I would migrate to SSD for the OS immediately. I always use storage drives to go with the SSD for the value over paying for huge SSD’s though. It will be a while until the larger capacity SSD’s get to my budget range. Faster access and transfer speeds, compared to the 5900 storage drives I use regularly. Usually I am transferring large files and/or large numbers of files for backup purposes. I’m very pleased with the performance of this one. Since it won’t be an “always on drive”, I don’t need to be concerned with heat. Also I use external docks for most of my storage drives and so they aren’t ever stifled in a PC box.
