Great laptop in perfect condition
Pros: This refurbished laptop looked brand new and came with a fresh install of windows 10 pro. The 16 GB of memory is so much better than the usual 8GB or the unusable 4GB of RAM. I'm not a gamer so the I5 processor and built in graphics is more than enough power for me. I was pleasantly surprised to find a 256 GB M.2 drive in it instead of an SSD. There is also an empty bay for an SSD.
Cons: On the 5th day of ownership the laptop would wobble on a flat surface. Very odd since the back is metal. I removed the 8 screws and retightened them in a crisscross fashion and problem was solved. Very easy fix, probably an isolated circumstance.
Overall Review: I would highly recommend an HP 840 G3 refurbished. At half the price it is fast, rock steady and can do almost anything. The 14 inch screen is of ample size for old tired eyes but not as hard to carry as a 15.4 inch screen.
Took a chance
Pros: Fast charging port is great idea
Cons: System hangs on shut down and going to sleep with USB 3.0 cable attached to motherboard.
Overall Review: I try not to believe every review (some are paid or outright false) so I took a chance. Just as mentioned by others my system would not shut down or go into sleep mode at times. Updated all drivers and bios to no avail. System: H97 chipset with I5 proc. and Win 7.
Replacement also defective!
Pros: Has a 2 year warranty
Cons: Purchase this PS one year ago to keep on shelf as a spare. Finally went to use it and it was completely dead. I received an RMA promptly but had to pay $15 shipping to return to company. One week later I received a new PS that works but has a low level rumble coming from the fan. I give up. It will be cheaper to buy a $12 (135mm) fan than to ship PS back and loose another week.
Overall Review: Bad Luck or bad product? The PSU is the most important item in your build don't get cheap here. Broke my own rule!
Work of Art
Pros: I got arrogant on this build and decided that I did not need to read the stinkin manual. So, I must thank Nelpet for his 12/11/2009 comment on using the Orange sim sockets. Saved me from returning a perfectly good board. I was also worried that the first revision board would not post with a DO stepped I-7 but my board shipped with the 610 bios. Fired right up! Thank you Newegg for selling fresh updated stock.
Cons: For the price it should butter your toast in the morning. A built in speaker would be nice. This board is a work of art and lights up like a Christmas tree. It will break my heart to remove the heat pipes in favor of water cooling.
Overall Review: READ THE MANUAL! I was impressed by the packaging and weight of this board. I was able to reach Asus customer support on the third ring. If you ask smart questions they will give you good answers!
Pros: ECS usually offers many features at a mid level price. Boards are generally stable and get the job done. Having said that, my board died after one day!
Cons: I emailed ECS support about the crackling noise coming from the speakers two days ago and have not heard from them as of yet. Case #09020410049. Fortunately the board died overnight and Newegg will issue a refund. Board does not support dual channel ram even though newegg says it does.
Overall Review: I could have purchased an ASUS P5N73-AM for almost the same price. (I have had small issues with asus also but there Tech responds in 24hrs). Getting an RMA from newegg was fast and easy. Newegg rocks!
