Does this come with a number after provisioned or do you have to go through a provider for a monthly cost?

No, this doesn't come with a phone number.

You must choose a VOIP provider and open an account with them.  I've had good experience using Callcentric with this device.  There are many other providers.

Note that you'll probably have a router between this device and your ISP.  I recommend that you spend some time learning about how your router handles Quality of Service (QoS) so you can make arrangements to give priority to traffic from this device.  Without configuring your router's Quality of Service, this device will have to contend with traffic from other devices on your network, and voice quality will suffer.

Hi, is Grandstream GS-HT701 110/220 Volts ?

Yes - the GS-HT701 ships with an wallplug AC Adapter that is (Input) 100-240 V, 50-60 Hz, 0.15A.  Output is 12V DC, 0.5A which plugs into the back of the unit shown.

Question 3

Will this product work with Comcast/Xfinity Cable Internet service.  They bundled a phone line in my tv/internet package, but i don't want to get stuck using their combo router devices.  I'd rather use my own wifi routers and a separate cable modem.  If I purchase this can i just plug it into my router and hook it to a phone and get a dial tone??

As long as you plug it into a router RJ45 jack it will work.  It will not work with wireless.  You will need to have available a VOIP server such as Asterisks. Which when setting the adaptor up it will ask for.  If you do not have a VOIP server to hook this up to it will not work.  In that case get a Magic Jack adapter which will work fine.

does the GS-HT701 support fax machines?

Yes, it does - I have it linked up to a Canon MX860 multifunction which includes a fax.  Works well sending, T.38 is supported (and is preferred).  FAX works best over VoIP when the fax settings (on the Canon) are set to 9600 baud and ECM is off.  For receiving, my provider (Callcentric) receives and images faxes directly, so no need to receive through the Grandstream.
On the HT701 side (from Grandstream's forum)...
The recommended settings for fax usage for the HT70X are located in the “FXS Port” tab and are:
•   “Send Re-INVITE After Fax” to “No(default)”
•   “Use First Matching Vocoder in 200OK SDP” to “Yes”
•   Preferred Vocoder: choice 1: PCMU
•    “Fax Mode” to “T.38 (Auto Detect)”
•   “Re-INVITE After Fax Tone Detected” to “Enabled”
•   “Disable Line Echo Canceller (LEC)” to “Yes”

Will this work with Skype?  Does this connect to PC or is it Standalone?  If connect to PC, is it Win-10 Compatible?

No, this is a stand alone product that is used in conjunction with a PBX system like Asterisk.

We are looking at moving to the Microsoft voice Voip platform for our business telephone. Is this device able to change a voip digital signal to analog for using with a standard fax machine?

Yes. This works as an analog fax line. Depending on service you will get on average 90% success rate in faxes. You can tweak settings to improve reliability.

The voip providers provide the necessary connection devices so what does this provide that they do not?

This device works the best with our VoIP in the Genband/Ribbon C15 telephone switch that we program to.

Can I use this to only allow certain phone numbers to ring on our landline?

No, it is for converting SIP call to Analog.

Is this compatible with Charter's/TW's voip service ?

I don't use Charter's VOIP service, but if it is truly SIP, and not some proprietary protocol, it would probably work. I would suggest opening a tech support case with Charter and asking them. That's what I did with my provider (Digium Cloud Services) and they told me what my settings needed to be, and I got it working in under 10 minutes.
