Does this cable allow for charging of devices? I know it can transfer data.

LUCKY SHOPPER !! Your answer is YES !! Yes it can charge, to the amperage capacity of the USP device into which it is plugged. Standard amperage is 500ma, or: 1/2 amp. Most of the dedicated chargers provide more, however, they do not deviate very far from the five volt USB standard. My new usb hub is wall-wart powered, and it supplies a total of 2amps to the connected devices. Remember that volts times amps equal WATTS, and you find this little hub chugging along with a total CHARGING power of TEN WATTS !! Most devices which charge on USB have very well controlled battery charging and overall battery care syntaxes, very wisely and constantly controlled by logic devices. Have no fear from charging whatever you have on USB with this cord.
