I do not know much about this, so forgive me if my question sounds stupid.  I plan to run this from the office where the modem and router are located, to a bedroom with a PS4.  Is this what I need for that job?

It all depends on what distance is between your modem and your ps4. I bought it to bridge two routers from the living room to the second bedroom in my apartment. It's a good 75ft  between them but running the wire around doorways etc is a lot longer.  I overestimated and this cable is really long. Trust me, you don't want to untangle 100+ feet of Ethernet cable.  Make sure you need this much cable before you commit to this length. Aside from that, the cable works great.
