Question 1

Is this black or gunmetal? There are different colors listed and some of the pictures are different from one another.

It's brushed aluminum, silverish color metal with blue LEDs and black keycaps/wrist rest.

From videos I've seen, the keys seem very easy to remove and the fact that they are raised makes me worry that they would fall off if I were to be rough with it. It's not like I intend to abuse my keyboard, it's just a little something I'm worried about. So are the key caps tighlty attached to the switches and will they stay in place?

The key caps seem to be the standard as seen on other mechanical keyboards. They fit securely in place and I can't see any possibility of them ever coming off during normal use (I've put many hours typing and gaming into mine and never even considered it). The included tool makes it easy and even by hand if you pull with some force they will slide up (not something that will ever occur with normal use). This is definitely something I would not worry about when considering this keyboard.

Question 3

Is the keyboard that comes with the brown switches backlit as well? I just wasn't sure because when changing the switch type you lose the  picture with the LEDs on (which may just be an oversight)

Yup! It is indeed backlit, and offers three different levels of brightness. If you want if off, you can do that too.

You can also enable backlighting on a key-by-by basis, which is programmable on the keyboard itself (without any software).

Another neat semi-hidden feature (Ctrl+LED button) makes it so the lights stay off until pressed. When pressed, they light up for 500ms and then turn off again, leaving a trail of the keys you've pressed. The one thing I wish it did is have them fade out as they're turning off, but instead they simply turn on/off. Still a really fun Easter egg.

Question 4

I see a lot of people rating this down have led problems with the keyboard. Does the keyboard itself still work? i dont really need the leds

I too had an led go out. But that does not reflect the quality of the keyboard's functionality. It has been the best keyboard I have ever used (I know three other people that have one and love it too).. Honestly though, if you do not need the leds then you might be able to find a cheaper mechanical keyboard.

it says cherry mx brown switches in the title but cherry mx blue switches in the description. which keys does it use actually?

the model I received had brown switches and blue leds. unfortunately, the lights started to stop working and eventually I returned it to corsair who sent me a check for the full amount of the receipt less shipping, which newegg did not charge me for anyway, one year after I bought it. I wanted a replacement but corsair said that it was a discontinued item, even though they still show it on the website. I replaced it with a k65 rgb with red switches to hold me over until I can get a brown switch with either white leds, or rgb lighting. I do not like the red leds and I prefer the brown switches.
I really loved the k70 with the brown switches and the blue leds. it was, and still is, the best keyboard I have ever had, Das Keyboard, Razer Black Widow, CM Quickfire Rapid, Saitek Eclipse 1 and 2, Enermax Aurora, etc, but did not want to go through another fail on the leds since corsair said it was discontinued because the blue leds short out. please check their forum on their website before deciding, but if the lights sometimes shorting out on some models doesn't worry you, corsair customer service is the best, I can give this keyboard a very high recommendation.

When, if ever, will this item be in stock?

I had to return mine for warranty several months back and Corsair does not offer replacements with this color configuration (blue backlighting and gunmetal gray chassis) with either brown or blue Cherry switches. They seem to have replaced these offerings with a black chassis and red backlighting, which didn't work for me so I got a refund.

Can I get this keyboard with a gunmetal finish and cherry mx reds?

During an RMA process on my keyboard I was looking at other Corsair keyboards (the Corsair website for keyboards is not well organized in my opinion) and did not find a Vengeance K70 with gunmetal finish and MX red switches.  I found the red switches only available with black or silver finishes.  Please note that I was looking only at keyboards with NA (North American) keyboard layouts.

Question 8

How is the attachment of the wrist rest? I move my keyboard around a lot and would like to know how well the rest comes on and off and how stable it is to pick up with it on.

To begin with, the wrist rest is solid, very solid. The actual attachment of it as it pertains to your question is equally solid. I'm not sure if you mean your keyboard moves a lot while you do things, or if you physically take it with you places, but I will speak in  regards to both. This keyboard will not move on a surface, at all,  the stoppers are too well manufactured. If you plan on taking this around with you, I would not recommend leaving the rest on while you carry it around, but it is so easy to attach/detach it doesn't even matter.

Question 9

I do not see a SLEEP key on the Corsair K70. Is it possible to program one?

You are right, there is no sleep key on the Corsair K70. There is a Windows Lock button that prevents the Windows key from being pressed (to the left of your Alt key). It may be possible to reprogram it, but I don't see anything that is quick and easy at the moment. Some googling might lead to something. There are no general programmable keys on this keyboard.

If you still want the keyboard, you can always set the power button on your computer to Sleep when pressed. I use it all it the time to shut down my computer.
