I bought it for a PS/2 keyboard so I could use it with a USB KVM switch.

I see no reason for it not to work if the keyboard has a PS/2 connector on it.

You may wish to use a short USB extension cable as the adapter is rather large and may block other USB ports.

Does this work with an IBM KB-9910 keyboard to a Macbook Pro?

I have it and use it daily. I don't know about that combo, since I have a Northgate keyboard and an Asus Republic of Gamers motherboard. Sorry I can't help.

Does this work the same as the StarTech Model USBPS2PC USB to PS2 Keyboard and Mouse Adapter? Except that it is for the keyboard only, I mean.

Yes, it's a standard USB to PS/2 keyboard ONLY adapter.   It is Plug and Play, and worked as expected within Windows 7, and presumably any other Windows OS (Win XP and above).

will this work on kvm switch for windows 8 and xp?

That is why I bought the adapter I had an older XP machine and a newer Windows 7 Machine, it works fine with my KVM switch. I am not sure about Windows 8 but I don't see why it would not work. You may need a short USB extension cable to plug the adapter into the KVM switch.

Works very well with a PS2 keyboard connected to either a USB KVM switch or directly into USB slot of a computer.
