does anybody know if this adapter can be replaced with another brand?  Mine was running really hot and eventually burned out after about a year's use.  So now I'm looking for something to replace this with.  Thank you in advance for any help.

I never got around to using this power supply. I had been using a old computer supply with output wires modified  as a temp supply which had remained permanently running my dvr. Just google supplies with the same output specs or one with more amperage output but same voltage.  As mentioned before the old computer supply I am using has same voltage but more current ( amps) and I just cut the old supply cable and connected to computer supply......if u know how...if not use google...good luck

Sure, the adapter is 4.5 inches long x 2 inches wide x 1.25 inches high.  The grounded power cord is 4.5 feet.  The power cord is 3 feet 10 inches and the connector color is black.

What is the inner diameter of the connector?

Don't really have a good answer for you.  The connectors are size color coded.  That is black fits to black; yellow to yellow, and so on.  If what you are connecting to does not have the same color then I would not recommend trying it.  This item has a black inner connector.
