what is the actual height of the monitor?

The actual height of the bezel is 14.75 inches. Including the buttons to control the monitor, located on the bottom right corner (see photo), the total height is 15 inches. Please note that this is Bezel Height only, excluding the stand. Sorry I have two of these mounted on a desktop movable mount.

Question 2

Does this monitor have VESA mounts on teh back (75mm x 75 mm or 100mm x 100mm)? If not, is it thick enough to drill in to (yes, I've drilled into my current monitors to make them VESA compatible)? I ask because I have a quad-monitor stand, currently with two monitors, and the only way I would buy this monitor is if it'll fit on my stand.

Its 100 x 100 VESA; I have it mounted on a VESA swing arm or my desktop, the last two were mounted for our trade show booth using a VESA bracket.

Question 3

Will this display and provide sound for apple tv? I want to use it as a stand alone without a computer.

Yes, if you connect Apple TV via HDMI cable. Having said that, the speaker system is not that great and depending on the video service and stream you're connected to, its quality and volume may fluctuate quite a bit.

The video quality is very good both video and PC work. I use two of these for my work PC.

Is this a glossy or matte screen?

These are Matte screens.  They do not have a glass type material in front of it.

And just an FYI, I love these monitors.  Fairly bright, never a dead pixel (I currently have four), and haven't died on me yet.

Question 5

After exactly a month, the monitor started showing image problems with vertical stripes flashing and moving at a level I can't use the monitor. Anybody else experiencing something like this? Thank you.

Our company has bought about 10 of these monitors over the last 3 years. We have only had a problem with one of them. I don't know exactly what the issue was but I don't remember hearing about any lines. All of the others are still being used without issue.

Question 6

When i use this moniter with hdmi it says the max resolution is 1366 X 768 please help?

Here is what worked for me:  Go to screen resolution panel by either rt click on desktop and selecting resolution from drop down, or go to control panel>appearance>display>screen resolution.

In the event that you are viewing the control panel in traditional/icons view go control panel>display>adjust resolution (adjust resolution will be in the side panel).

Once you are in the resolution panel you should see your resolution listed under the resolution category. If you are having trouble not being able to achieve your monitor's max resolution there should be a category above resolution called "display". If you have switched from an old monitor to this new one you should see the name of your "old" monitor listed in the display category. The problem is that your computer does not recognize that you have a new monitor.  To fix this go up to top right corner of the screen resolution panel. You should see two buttons - "Detect" and "Identify". Click "Detect". Your computer should now recognize that you have a new monitor.  Your computer may change to max resolution automatically.  If it does not, click the down facing arrow in the display category  a drop down menu should appear containing the names of both your old and new monitors. Select your new monitor which should be listed as HL272HPB. Once you have done this you will either be prompted to change your computer to max resolution or you will now have the option to change it in the resolution category.  Hope this helps and isn't too confusing!  :)

Hi Rob, yes this monitor has 1 VGA connection in addition to a DVI and HDMI. I'm currently using all 3 connections.

I current have this as the top monitor above a HannSpree HF289H with a Hanns-G HZ281 on each side of the HF289H.  The 27" monitor was a perfect addition for my set up.  Think you will be very happy having it in a dual monitor setup.

Could I play Xbox 360 on this?

The monitor has HDMI inputs and optional video in. Really, it's a matter of which XBOX 360 cables you're using as to how great your experience will be. (Also depends on how old the XBOX 360 is.) You can use an HDMI converter if all else fails.

Is the screen glossy or matte finish?

I tried to find you a 'definitive' answer in the Hannspree web site but got nuthin'.
Copy from another online retailer says,
"•27" diagonal LCD screen with LED backlight. This anti-glare monitor can be placed anywhere in the room".

This replaced a 23" Acer which has a glossy screen and this one is much less glossy. I love it. I didn't mind the Acer but the extra 4" diag is SO worth it.
